Michael Stevenson (born November 19, 1989) better known by his stage name Tyga(Thank You God Always), is an American rapper signed to Young Money Entertainment.
Life and career
Tyga was born on November 19, 1989, in Compton, California. Born of Jamaican and Vietnamese descent, he is the cousin of Travis McCoy, the lead vocalist of the group Gym Class Heroes. He achieved his first recognition opening for Fall Out Boy and Gym Class Heroes during the Young Wild Things Tour in late 2007. Earlier that year he had also released his first mixtape Young On Probation which featured Jay Rock, The Pack and more. His debut single, "Coconut Juice," was released in 2008 and it's video was directed by Rage. His mixtape, No Introduction the Series: April 10, was released online in April. The second part to the series, No Introduction the Series: May 10, was released in May. T.
The song "Diamond Life" was featured on the Madden NFL 09 soundtrack. and is also included in the Need for Speed Undercover soundtrack and Fighting soundtrack.
Tyga will also be featured on Gudda Gudda's upcoming album set to drop in December of 2010. Gudda, who has been with Young Money for over a year now, just released his first mixtape "Guddaville," with the sequel, "Back to Guddaville 2" set to be released with his album come Decemeber. Gudda's album name has not been released; however, there is rumor that Young Money, along with Gudda himself, have narrowed it down to three potential covers: "Gudda Gudda: The 13th Reindeer," "The Lost Disciple: Gudda Gudda," and "Ice Cream Blazin'"
