Iain Lee (born 9 June 1973) is a British comedian and radio and television presenter, who has appeared on The 11 O'Clock Show, video game review show Thumb Bandits and the ill-fated Channel 4 breakfast show RI:SE. He also presented the documentary Thumb Candy and appears regularly on Channel 4's "Top 100" series of programmes. Most recently he has presented Celebrity Soup for E! Entertainment Television taking a wry look at the weeks celebrity news in his usual unfunny style. He is known to have a penchant for buggery and the band KISS, as well as various video games, and regularly refers to them all (and anything else he approves of) as "brilliant". He started off his career in radio by phoning up Clive Bull and trying (sometimes successfully) to be funny.

Iain was brought up in Slough and attended Herschel Grammar School. In a pre-recorded call to a pre-selected caller, he announced that his nationality was English.

LBC radio show

Since January 2005, Iain Lee has hosted a live phone-in talk show under the name of "The 3 and half hour, 3 till 6:30 Iain Lee Afternoon Wireless Show" on the London radio station LBC 97.3 FM. He currently hosts the drivetime slot, broadcast between 3pm to 6:30pm Monday to Friday following the departure of Sandi Toksvig and 'The Preve' and the appointment of Anna Raeburn.

Iain originally joined the station to present the 10pm to 1am slot on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. His style is less political and more irreverent than other presenters, such as Clive Bull with whom he has in the past had a running feud involving practical jokes such as substituting a picture of Phil Collins for the picture of Clive Bull on the official LBC 97.3 website.

Iain & Clive have now buried the hatchet to become "Radio Friends"; however a new feud started with old friend James O'Brien, Iain calling James a 'Moonface'. So James O'Brien challenged Iain to a race around a football pitch. Iain was very confident by saying "He would moonwalk the finish line", and beat James O'Brien on 12 December 2005 in a race held at Westway Sports Centre.

Iain has been extending a tentative hand of friendship towards the eminent Igor from Montenegro, a regular caller to Iain's show, who resides in Redhill. However, this relationship was brought to a dramatic closure on 29 July 2005, when Igor was banned from the show for ringing up Iain's nemesis, Clive Bull. Some cynical listeners have suggested that Igor is actually a real-life friend of Iain's (Some said Mackenzie Crook) and that the whole thing is an elaborate hoax. Igor has now been allowed back on Iain's show for singing him an apology but doesn't phone in as much.

Here's an example of a few correspondents on Iain Lee bit of LBC website

Iain has a number of correspondents, who are regular listeners, appointed by him to report on subjects such as 'Podcast', 'Video Games', 'London Underground', 'Misplaced Pages', all via 'The Platypus'. The opportunity to become a correspondent is a rare one and much valued by his fans. To celebrate his birthday, a small number of correspondents have been favoured with the even more prestigious title of "Uber-Correspondent" but the one which the biggest prestigious title was Vatsal from India with "Web Uber Veteran 5 Star Correspondent". This hallowed status can only be dreamt of by most. On 23 September 2005 a major shakeup of the correspondent list occurred. Some lost their jobs, but others joined the lineup to bring listeners updates on even more varied subjects. However, a special "Diagnosis Murder" correspondent was elected on the 15 November. Another shakeup happened on 27 December 2005, when some new correspondents were instantly promoted to "Uber Correspondent", (quite a few cuts were made and about 20 new correspondents appointed). The next correspondent update is expected in April.

Iain has his own master of sound effects known only as Wisdom Jones, renowned for his terrible sound effects. Many believe that Iain felt sorry for him and thus allowed him the post.

In August 2005, Iain's show was added to the short list of LBC programmes which are podcast via the internet. As of December 7th, the show is the 14th most popular on the iTunes podcast chart, beating Clive Bull (60), Steve Allen (66), Nick Ferrari (98), Sandi Toksvig - now left (100) & James O'Brien (Over 100).

Also Iain is Number 1 in the NEW iTunes Arts & Entertainment Category Podcast Chart on December 10th

Iain Lee has also been known to reward his regular listeners. His Knight Rider "correspondent" was recently sent to see the car KITT featured in the show, thanks to Iain.

In January 2006, Iain Lee admitted on air to having been suspended for a day (Friday 6 January) for calling a caller a dickhead on air. This explains his absence and a recorded show being broadcast on that day.

When Iain had the Friday to Sunday 10pm to 1am slot, he would occasionally put the calls straight to air. This would be very amusing and was highly popular amongst the callers, with the whole switchboard almost being full. Moreover, when he moved to the Drivetime slot, it was then named "Mick's Mental Mayhem". Now, Iain holds the session where callers go straight to air between 6pm to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.

It is still extremely popular today and many people to a mixture of things such as play pieces of music, swear, sounds or other comedic pieces. Others do impressions, or take the mick out of others. For example, one caller said "Iain Lee was in the same league as Mike Mendoza".

Some callers also like to do impersonations of other talk radio presenters, such as the presenters of talkSPORT: Mike Mendoza, Charlie Wolf and Mike Dickin.

On 23 January 2006, an listener calling himself 'ShatPank' aka James LeBaigue (An anti-Iain Lee loyalist and professional stalker, maker of Wisdomjones.blogspot, constant hate-mail sender and freind of the Igor of Montenegro) decided to setup a light-hearted, slightly ironic "Iain Lee Correspondent Trade Union"(The ILCTU). It was a big faliure from the launch. The guestbook was flooded with abuse, many hits were made but only 4 people joined.
