BlueSpace Software Corp

BlueSpace is an enterprise software company serving the defense and intelligence communities, primarily in the US. Today it is based in Austin, Texas, but it was founded in the UK in 2001. BlueSpace is focused on the Multi-Level Security arena, creating mashup applications that can span multiple classified security domains. Specific examples include an MLS email client that provides a user with a single inbox and calendar connected to Microsoft Exchange, an MLS search application that connects to Google Search Appliance devices on multiple networks, and an MLS C2 application that connects to a Google Earth server and shows the operator a Unified Operating Picture that is the combination of multiple Common Operating Pictures on different networks.

NSA I81 began funding BlueSpace's research through AFRL in 2009, and the USAF is also funding R&D. In June 2010, BlueSpace participated in the Coalition Warfighter Interoperability Demonstration (CWID) in partnership with the AWACS Netcentricity Program at Hanscom Air Force Base. DIA and JFCOM are also sponsoring BlueSpace's C2 technology in Empire Challenge 2010, a 'live fly' technology demonstrator based at Fort Huachuca. BlueSpace has a close partnership with the SABER PMO (formerly called DTW) at AFRL, and is currently being embedded as part of the accredited baseline of the SABER desktop program. In addition to the MLS arena, BlueSpace also has a controlled messaging product being used as a replacement for legacy AMHS systems.

IBM BlueSpace

Between 2000 and 2002, IBM partnered with Steelcase, the office furniture manufacturer and did some very thorough research on the software, hardware and ergonomic aspects of the cubicle of the future (or the office of the future) under the name "BlueSpace". They produced several prototypes of this hi-tech multi screened workspace and even exhibited one at Walt Disney World. Bluespace offered movable multiple screens inside and outside, a projection system, advanced individual lighting, heating, and ventilation controls, and a host of software applications to orchestrate everything.
