hello
Just wanted to let you know that I made a minor edit on the Brunei military page. The full extent of Singapore-Brunei military relations is, it appears, not in the public domain - but I think it is rather wide-ranging from personal experience (many Bruneians train in the military and officer schools of Singapore, and Singaporeans routinely go to Brunei for jungle training). I tried looking up bilateral treaties which may indicate the nature of military cooperation between the two countries but have come up with a blank, so only a reference to 'extensive' military exchanges was made. Cheers. 220.255.117.227 11:42, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Screenshot.chkrs.small.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Screenshot.chkrs.small.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:05, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Brunei's currency
Thank you for your contributions to Misplaced Pages. It appears that you recently copied the contents of a page and pasted it into another with a different name. Specifically, you copied the contents of Brunei ringgit This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. The mechanism we use for renaming articles is to move it to a new name which both preserves the page's history and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Misplaced Pages:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.
If you were to move Brunei ringgit, please also move Coins of the Brunei ringgit. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 07:14, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing out my mistakes. I can't seem to move the page in question though, because the page already exists. Do I go to Misplaced Pages:Requested moves or ??? --Novelty (talk) 07:57, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- I guess that's the only way now. Unfortunately, a lengthy discussion will take place. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 08:32, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Can you have a look at the talk pages of Talk:Brunei ringgit and Talk:Coins of the Brunei ringgit to see if everything is in order? Also, do I need to record this move request anywhere else? --Novelty (talk) 08:58, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- It's pretty much in place. I did some minor modifications. Please add
{{subst:RMlink|Brunei ringgit|Brunei dollar|summarized reason}}
- to Misplaced Pages:Requested moves#Other proposals. I can't really speak for you. And I haven't decided what to vote yet. Thanks. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 10:25, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for all the help! Now what happens, and who decides when it will get moved? --Novelty (talk) 01:21, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Help needed: Brunei pitis
I've moved the Bruneian pitis to Brunei pitis to be in line with WP:N. However, that article is rather short. How do I request for a merger for that article to be included in the Brunei dollar article? --Novelty (talk) 06:15, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
- The instruction is at WP:MERGE. But I'm personally against the merge. A unwritten convention is that if the currency unit is different, it would have its own article. It just happens that pitis was a short-lived currency. --ChoChoPK (球球PK) (talk | contrib) 16:55, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Brunei
No, I figure we could still use the same banner. The reason for the name change, such as it is, is my belief that, at some point, someone might create a "daughter" project dealing with Brunei which might eventually have to be "absorbed" as a subprojectm, and a subproject of a subproject looks a little confusing. Basically, I did that with most if not all of the "national" subprojects. I am going to change the phrasing of the banner to reflect the name change, though. Subsidiaries
Okay, so where is your reference that the catering dept. runs "two halal Chinese restaurants"? Gatoclass (talk) 15:12, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- I still can't see a reference which says Dynasty is halal. Gatoclass (talk) 15:40, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I have approved the hook.
- The reason I queried the article is because I assumed the template links at the bottom of the page were to standalone articles, when in fact they just link back to sections on the same page. I really don't think you should do that, it's confusing to the reader and I have my doubts it conforms with the style guide, although I haven't actually checked. Anyhow, good luck with the DYK. Gatoclass (talk) 16:26, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- You're welcome. I can't guarantee your hook will be picked up of course, but I've done the best I can. Gatoclass (talk) 17:01, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Chinese cash
You have previously participated in discussions on use of English in currency names at Misplaced Pages Talk:WikiProject Numismatics/Style. If you care, please discuss a resolution of related titleing issue at Talk:Chinese wén. — AjaxSmack 01:38, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comment. My point was simply that 文 (the Chinese character) is not equivalent to wén. Dove1950 doesn't know how to speak, read, or write any of these languages. Considering 文 to be the same as wén is just a crutch for a person who knows nothing about Chinese characters. The character is 文, simple as that. How it is read depends on the language and the context. If you write 二十文, you can be pretty sure it's Cantonese and it's read i sap mun. If you write 一文無し you know it's Japanese and should be read ichimon-nashi. To say that the pre-modern Chinese wrote wén on their coins is counterfactual. They didn't write wén. They wrote 文. This is such an elementary point that people seem to miss it. Writing 文 is not the same as writing wén!

How about ...that all standard vehicle registration plates in Brunei begin with "B" or "K"? I'm not sure about the punctuation at the end ("?), but it is verified by the website. What do you think? Thingg 04:10, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's better than mine. Hook verified. Great job with the article btw. Thingg 15:32, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Screenshot.chkrs.small.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Screenshot.chkrs.small.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. MrKIA11 (talk) 22:57, 10 December 2009 (UTC)
Murut Brunei
Hi Novely,
Just to clarify that the term 'Murut' used in Sarawak and Brunei is actually the 'Lun Bawang' instead of the 'Murut' used in Sabah. I made the edit in the Muurut profile just so that there is no confusion there. --Danazach (talk) 07:13, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
