"Butterfly" is a track recorded by Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue, taken from her seventh album "Light Years". The track was written by Kylie in collaboration with songwriter Steve Anderson.
A test pressing of Butterfly was originally issued to clubs in spring 2000 to test DJ reaction to Kylie's new material. In June 2000 Kylie performed the song along with other 'Light Years' tracks and classic hits at a live showcase at London's G-A-Y club to kickstart promotion for 'Spinning Around', the first single from that album.
'Butterfly' had been in the running to be the fourth single from 'Light Years', but due to its strong club influences it was pulled in favour of the radio-friendly 'Please Stay'. However, Mark Pichotti, legendary DJ and producer of 'Butterfly', remixed the track and issued it in the US through his own Blue Plate Records where it became a sizeable hit on the US Billboard Dance Charts.
