He currently plays for the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers. He was signed as a free agent by Montreal Canadiens in 1992. He has played for Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks and Montreal Canadiens.
On February 21, 2000, when Brashear played for the Vancouver Canucks, he was the victim of an incident during a game when Boston Bruins enforcer Marty McSorley confronted Brashear during a game by swinging a hockey stick at Brashear's head causing Brashear to fall to the ice and hit his head and lose consciousness due to a severe concussion.
Brashear returned the next season and had a career year in production to that point.
