Jessica Phyllis Lange (born April 20, 1949) is an Academy Award-winning actress. Born in Cloquet, Minnesota, she went to Paris after high school to study drama, then returned to New York, where she became a fashion model. In 1976, Dino De Laurentiis cast her in his remake of King Kong (see King Kong (1976)), which received unfavorable press and caused her to disappear from the screen until she obtained a small part in All That Jazz. She became a star opposite Jack Nicholson in 1981's The Postman Always Rings Twice, and garnered an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of actress Frances Farmer in Frances in 1983. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress the same year for Tootsie, and won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1994 for Blue Sky.

In 1992 Lange made her Broadway debut opposite Alec Baldwin in "A Streetcar Named Desire"
