Homocaust is a term used for homophobic violence. It is a portmanteau of homosexual and Holocaust.

It is a neologism derived fromthe Portuguese Homocausto used in Brazil to describe the high rate of murders of homosexuals. From 1980 to 2009, some 3,196 homicides were recorded targeting homosexuals. in Brazil. Another 250 homicides were recorded in 2010.
