Chet Culver, Iowa Secretary of State.

Chet Culver (Chester John Culver) (born 1965) is the current Secretary of State in the U.S. state of Iowa and a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Governor of Iowa in 2006. Culver attended college at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University in Blacksburg Virginia, where he earned a B.A. in political science. Before entering public service in 1998 he was a high school teacher in Des Moines, Iowa. His main opponents for the Democratic nomination are former director of the Iowa Department of Economic Development Mike Blouin and seven term State Representative Ed Fallon. Patty Judge was also running but stepped down to become Culver's runningmate.

He is the son of former US Senator John Culver.

He currently resides in West Des Moines, Iowa with his wife Mariclare Thinnes Culver and their two children, Clare Honour and John William. He attends Central Presbyterian church in West Des Moines, Iowa, where he serves as a church elder.
