Jung believed that coincidence was not mere chance, but instead a literal "co-inciding", or alignment of forces in the universe to create an event or circumstance. The process os becoming intuitively aware and harmonious with these forces is what Jung labelled "synchronicity." Jung purported that a person that reached this enlightened state could actually shape events around them through the enjoining of one's awareness with these universal forces.
