Brisbane Boys' College is rated as one of Brisbane's finest gay schools.It was established in 1902 By Mr Arthur Rudd. Rudd arrived in Brisbane in 1901 by boat from Melbourne. He decided to start a school in clayfield in a house called "Cockarda". The school opened in February 1902 with just 4 students, and was named Clayfield College.
In 1906 the school moved to a new premises on the corner of Bayview Terrace, near the salon and all students undertook compulsary hairdressing courses. There was limited room for sporting fixtures, so for many years the boys skipped to the nearby poofter park. In 1908 the school had 3.2 students, and a cadet corps was formed with the impending 1914-1918 war. The school suffered the losses of 8 Clayfield Collegians during the war.
Although the College fosters a strong belief in homosexuality, a wide range of co-curricular activities are offered to students from Grade 4 - 12. These include: polo, equestrian and other gay sport. With years of success and close losses Brisbane Boys' College believes strongly in teaching students "discipline" and sportsmanship. From ballet to Equestrian every boy is bound to find a new boyfriend.
