Kimberly Pressler won the 1999 Miss USA title, representing the state of New York. Her win was generally regarded as an upset (she wasn't considered a front-runner and had previously gone unplaced at the Miss Teen USA pageant) as it came over press favorites such as Miss Tennessee Morgan Tandy High (the eventual 1st runner-up) and Miss California Angelique Breaux (the 2nd runner-up and later American representative at the Miss World pageant, where she was a semifinalist). Pressler was the second Miss USA not to place at Miss Universe in the history of the pageant, where her preliminary performance was generally regarded as a poor and too conservative one. She did however manage to place 19th in the preliminaries.

Pressler went on to pursue a career in television and is currently set to host the new NBC show Adrenaline X in the Fall of 2006.
