Wayanad is a district of Kerala state in India. It is the least populated district in Kerala, lying loft in the Western Ghats. It is a district without any railway. The district head quarters is at Kalpetta, a municipality.


Reaching There

Nearest Railway Station: is Calicut (Kozhikode), 63 km from Kalpetta Nearest Airport: Calicut airport at Karippur, in Malappuram district. Buses ply from Kozhikode up through Thamarassery. It is on the Calicut- Mysore National Highway.

Important Places

It is a hill station with a lot of Tea Estates. Lakkidi in Wayanad receives one of the highest rainfalls in Kerala. The lake at Pookkot is very famous among tourists. Thirunelly is famous for its temple. The tribal dwellings are near by. Wayanad has a very famous wild life sanctuary which is famous for tigers and elephans.
