However, if you notice any significant mistakes/omissions, I would appreciate a comment about it here

Only literature published within the last 25 years or so has been checked, and literature that only uses scientific names (e.g., most books specifically dealing with genetics and biochemistry of birds) is not included at all. Literature without caps is near the bottom of the page. With well over 100 sources, among them the most important in ornithology, it should provide an overall picture, but this is not a complete search, especially when looking at literature with less impact. This is bird specific literature – publications that cover multiple orders aren't included. The only exception is Zootaxa. Explanation of why it deserves a special mention is within the list.

Bird specific literature where caps are used (House Wren; not house wren)

In a few cases, a full caps English name is used the very first time for species entry layout, but *everywhere* else the name is written with only first letter of each word in caps. There is a level of overlap between the sections Taxonomic sources and Ornithological organisations & their journals, but not elsewhere. For example, Neotropical Migratory Birds is only listed for South America, and The Birds of the Western Palearctic is only listed for Europe.

Mammals

Only indirectly relevant, but since I claimed I could provide as many, if not more, mammal sources with caps: The Mammals of Australia (Strahan, eds., 1998), Mammals of New Guinea + Mammals of the south-west Pacific & Moluccan Islands (both Flannery, 1995), Mammals of Southeast Asia (Francis, 2008), Mammals of North America (Reid, 2006), and Handbook of the Mammals of the World (Mittermeier & Wilson, eds., 2009 and onward).
