The series stars Kat Dennings as Max, who comes from a poor working-class family, and Caroline (Beth Behrs), who was born rich but is now down on her luck, working together at a Brooklyn restaurant. Each episode ends with how much money they made from their jobs, which they must raise in order to launch a cupcake business (The goal is $250,000).
