Catalan
I think we should say that it is a Catalan surname since in Catalan "Nadal" means Christmas and most people called Nadal are from Catalan-speaking cities. This fact could also be added into the page if we move it back to the title "Nadal (disambiguation)". --SMP - talk (en) - talk (ca) 15:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
Rafael Nadal
I strongly feel that this page should be redirected to Rafael Nadal since he is by far the most popular person bearing this last name. A disambiguation page will be created to list other people with Nadal as the last name.

Nadal (surname) → Nadal – Relisted. Giving it another week in view of the lengthy edit war preceding this discussion. Some stats would be nice! Favonian (talk) 17:23, 14 February 2012 (UTC) Unnecessarily piped, only use is surname. (Someone has reverted the edit to the surname page at this time from "Nadal", with no discussion. - This does not appear to qualify as uncontroversial, as the edit history indicates a number of editors feel the tennis player is the primary topic. older ≠ wiser 16:35, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
- Moving to the contested section, definitely needs discussion. I would argue that Rafael Nadal is the primary topic of Nadal, just like Barack Obama is the primary topic of Obama despite all the alternatives at Obama (disambiguation). Jenks24 (talk) 16:39, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose - Rafael Nadal is clearly the primary topic. --180.183.136.102 (talk) 07:04, 12 February 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose Clear case of primary topic being the tennis player. There is a hatnote at Rafael Nadal referring to the surname disambiguation page, so I really don't see what the problem is. Skinsmoke (talk) 09:28, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose per User:Jenks24, 180.183.136.102, and User:Skinsmoke. Last month Rafael Nadal received 602815 page views. The second most popular page was Toni Nadal with 18571 views. All the other Nadal pages put together received 40000 views. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Callmederek (talk • contribs) 20:17, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
- Comment Nadal had redirected to Nadal (surname) until last week when someone decided to redirect it to Rafael Nadal (without adding a hatnote to Rafael Nadal). I added the hatnote in the meantime to Rafael Nadal. John Cengiz talk 06:43, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
