I don't think it's appropriate to add endospore staining directly to the microbiology page. There's a number of different stains used in microbiology, and even endospore staining can be used to describe at least two different staining methods. There are no other staining techniques mentioned on the microbiology page (like the gram stain, negative stains, flagellar stains, the acid-fast stain, etc.), so it seems weird to mention endospore staining while ignoring every other stain. It might be better to start a page for stains used in microbiology and histology and then link to that page from the microbiology page. What do you think? -NorsemanII (talk) 02:38, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Speedy Deletion request Rijman Groenink
Hi, You requested a Speedy Deletion request for Rijkman Groenink as 'not indicated why person impotant'. Did you have a look at the article? The content says imho why the article should be there. RG was the CEO and with that the driving force regarding the sale of ABN AMRO, the largest banking group in The Netherlands, and this sell-off of the bank was one of the main reasons for the complete collapse of Fortis Bank SA and a helping factor in the further collapse of Royal Bank of Scotland.
Being the driving force and the responsible person for possibly Worst takeover deal ever is imho alone enough reason for a page on Wiki.
So I really don't see why this should be a Speedy Deletion: his name and fame is comparable to Fred Goodwin (and RG and FG are both very responsible personally for the failure of the RBS takeover of ABN Amro. Tonkie (talk) 02:50, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- I do understand what you mean...but pretty much what you have written is a biography of him which is fine, if he was well-known. The "Worst takeover ever," is not a notable event that happened. Which makes him an unremarkable person. Take Kevin O'Leary for example. He sold his education company to Matell for 3.6 billion dollars, which is remarkable, and may reach criteria...but he is also a "Shark" on the TV show Shark Tank. Do you see the difference? - @DF: The fact that YOU don't know him in the USA (I assume) doesn't mean that he wouldn't be a 'well-known' person. Imho he is a well-known person: you can be 'well-known' without ever competing in The Voice or BB. You probably also had never heard of Dominique Straus Kahhn before he had that envounter with his room-maid last year.... Tonkie (talk) 03:10, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- The fact that you believe everyone in America is a 13 year-old girl is depressing. None the less he is on the Netherlands Misplaced Pages because he has some importance to it, while on the English he has none. Even if he does, (I have been proven wrong) have some significance, it is not needed. Many people have done what he has, but aren't on Misplaced Pages. Companies are a different story. If they have done something better for society then it's fine, but a person is different. If they are not well known or have a significance (that is greater than what you have said) that is fine. But until then he is an unremarkable person.DreamFieldArts 3:23, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
- @DF - Where do I claim that everyone in the US is a 13 year old girl? I never made that claim: not on this page neither someone else. Please state where I made such a claim. I don't think that 'everyone in America is a 13 year old girl' (there are also some very friendly 11 year old boys contributing to Wiki) . In a reaction I was writing I did explain why I think that RG is noteworthy enough to be included in the English language version of Wiki as his "importance" goes beyone the Dutch language borders. I do agree that people with only local/national significance don't need a page on the English LANGUAGE version of Wiki. In the past I did have many discussions with Wikipedians that an entry of someone on the Dutch language version of Misplaced Pages is at itself enough reason to include a page on the EN language version. For example pages about contenders in a national singing competition (such as The Voice) might be noteworthy enough to be included in Wiki in that language but have no significance for the EN version.
- Having said that I must also say that the different Wikis ae NOT meant as national services: the EN Wiki is the English LANGUAGE version of Misplaced Pages and NOT the American or British Wiki's:. Wikipedias are not a collection of national Wikis but they are all general encyclopedias published in several different languages. t was told me many times that -for example- the no.wikipedia.org is NOT the Norwegian Misplaced Pages but a general Misplaced Pages witten in the Norwegian language.
