Zaozyorsk (Template:Lang-ru), formerly called Murmansk-150 (Му́рманск-150), is a closed town in Murmansk Oblast, Russia. Population: Template:Ru-census2010prelim 12,687 (2002 Census).
History
Zaozyorsk was originally formed in 1958 to serve as a base for a nuclear underwater fleet that was to protect Soviet's northern sea border. The base was renamed Zapadnaya Litsa in 1959.
Administrative and municipal status
Administratively, it is incorporated as the closed administrative-territorial formation of Zaozyorsk—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts. Municipally, the closed administrative-territorial formation of Zaozyorsk is incorporated as Zaozyorsk Urban Okrug.
