I'm generally okay with the idea, though I'm not done proofreading it myself, either. I was certainly planning to keep an eye on the FAC comments in any case, so feel free to list me. In fact I'm pretty sure you could recruit any of the other four involved .hr editors for it, I'm sure they'd all appreciate the prestige :) --Joy (talk) 22:03, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
BTW, can you set up an e-mail address for me to be able to contact you that way, please? --Joy (talk) 22:10, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- OK, done, and thanks. I think it might be a bit over the top to list five editors as co-sponsors though! Prioryman (talk) 23:32, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
- BTW did you get my mail? --Joy (talk) 18:59, 29 September 2011 (UTC)
FAC's been closed now, but reviewing my comments I realize that I accidentally wrote "publishers" when I meant "publisher locations" - you're right, all of the books included publishers. Sorry for the confusion. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:30, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Battle of Vukovar ACR
Hi! I noticed that the last FAC brought up matter of British vs American spelling inconsistencies in the article as an obstacle. I'm willing to tackle those myself, but I'd like to check first with you would you prefer to end up with BE or AE spelling in the end - I noticed the British English tag in the talk page, but just to be on the safe side...--Tomobe03 (talk) 21:49, 29 September 2011 (UTC)

- It was because of your unsupported assertions on the talk page that I marked the points in your additions which were not supported by the references you added. Some seem to know have been addressed although not very well. Nowhere does it say that the property was valued (a positive action that implies a professional viewing the property and making an informed judgement) @ £50mil. But we will let that one go. Cyrus Cylinder
Hello Prioryman, First off, let me thank you for some of the fine work that you’ve done on making the Cyrus Cylinder page (particularly in your retitles, on the history of its discovery, the dispute between IRI and the British Museum , as well as the Exhibition in Iran update).
I am concerned, however, that your edits on 08:29, 2011 November 5 Prioryman (talk | contribs) (89,345 bytes), are not quite what I consider useful. In particular, what seems to be opinionated viewpoints. Example: “However, the Cylinder's account of Cyrus's conquest clearly does not tell the whole story. Although the Persians do seem to have entered Babylon without serious resistance, the text does not mention the preceding Battle of Opis, in which Cyrus's forces defeated and apparently massacred Nabonidus's army.”
1) It reads far too much as if there was subterfuge afoot in the creation of the Cylinder as if the Cylinder was create to mislead. 2) There is no evidence that Cyrus’s army ever MASSACARED Nabodinus’s army. In fact, the historical evidence is that Cyrus was benign by ancient and modern standards in terms of the invasion. 3) The three historians being cited are opining (however educated their opinions may be), not definitively stating, that the cylinder did not tell the whole story.
To tell you the truth, I think that the whole section on the analysis of the cylinder’s claim is really not useful and subject to biases in terms of what analyses are included. There are very little articles on wikipedia referencing proclamations and announcement (declarations of independence, the magna carta, etc) that analyze the claims of those proclamations. Perhaps it might be better to remove the section altogether.
This being said, I am going to make some revisions addressing my concerns. Best, GoetheFromm (talk) 07:37, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Main page appearance: Battle of Vukovar
This is a note to let the main editors of Battle of Vukovar know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on November 18, 2011. You can view the TFA blurb at Misplaced Pages:Today's featured article/November 18, 2011. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Misplaced Pages talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:
The Battle of Vukovar was an 87-day siege of the Croatian town of Vukovar by the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and paramilitaries from Serbia, between August–November 1991. In 1990, Croatian Serb separatists launched an armed uprising, supported by Serbian President Slobodan Milošević, and seized control of Serb-populated areas of Croatia. The JNA intervened in favour of the Croatian Serbs and launched an offensive in August 1991 against Croatian government-held territory. Vukovar was defended by around 1,800 lightly armed Croatian soldiers and civilian volunteers, against 36,000 JNA soldiers and Serbian paramilitaries equipped with heavy armour and artillery. When the town fell on 18 November 1991 after prolonged fighting, hundreds were massacred by Serb forces and the town's non-Serb population was expelled. Vukovar was peacefully reintegrated into Croatia in 1998 after the end of the Croatian War of Independence and has since been rebuilt, but deep ethnic divisions remain. Several Serb military and political officials, including Milošević, were later indicted and in some cases jailed for war crimes committed during and after the battle. (more...)

Questions to Arbs
I have sent you the other day an email with quack quack evidence. Can you please firstly confirm that you have received it.
Additionally, as I mentioned at User_talk:Russavia#Your_query I have asked individual arbs who are running for re-election to the Committee specific questions in relation to the Clarification request that they have so far basically ignored in providing straight answers for. You will find the questions, and their answers, on the individual candidacy pages.
I don't think it is fair only to subject those Arbs seeking re-election to such questions, and am thinking of asking individual arbs the same questions on their talk pages, to see if they will answer them, and I will make a note of their responses (or lack thereof) at their future candicacy.
Anyway, just wanted to give you a heads up in case you want to check out the questions and their answers in relation to this case. Russavia 14:57, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Eston Railway Station
Hi Prioryman! I've had a quick scan through your page about the Eston Railway Station - looking good! I've just linked Eston Hills to Eston Nab. I wrote the Eston Nab page because it had been hijacked by the company that transmits from the mast there. Perhaps I should have called the page Eston Hills. Kaali Sudheer
I have visiting the Muse Art gallery in Hyderabad and i have attended all the art events curated by Kaali sudheer. He is doing a fantastic community service in the areas of Art . helping the budding, young, women artists to show case their talent and build their careers in the art . i spoke to him in length and understood that we need to have a wikipedia page for him so that it will be of use for Artists who want to show their works and get benefited. As the gallery is a not to profit started by a big name like Marriott and Marriott have partnered with kaali sudheer. Thought it will be of great use for artists around the world to use this wonderful space and show their talent. I have given the external links of well known sources like US consulate of Hyderabad , Confederation of Indian Industry ( CII) , Yahoo News and well known news papers Hindu and postnoon etc. I do not agree with your deletion as In India Esp in south India there is hardly any art appreciation. there are very few art galleries in Hyderabad and that too all galleries are commercial one. Kaali sudheer has stated this to promote artists supported by Marriott. Kaali Sudheer has been doing a good work in the area of art. i object your decision for deletion pleas http://www.hybiz.tv/Kaali-Sudheer--MUSE-Art-Gallery/165227 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gregx1872 (talk • contribs) 19:16, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Another picture for the Meermin…?
Hello Prioryman, thanks again for the wonderful job you did of retrieving the illustration of a ship from Groenewegen, Gerrit (1789), Verzameling van vier en tachtig stuks Hollandsche schepen, for the Meermin slave mutiny article. I've been looking around for more images, and was pointed (here) to this picture: judging by the caption, it looks certain that this image is from the same source as the other one! It looks to me like it's another angle on the same type of ship, too. Thing is, the Meermin slave mutiny article is presently slated for a Main Page appearance on Saturday: if there's a chance that we could get that image by then, obviously that would be fab! Any thoughts? No worries if not! :o) Nortonius (talk) 13:57, 16 February 2012 (UTC)
- No chance of getting it before Saturday, unfortunately, but it should be possible for me to get hold of it on Saturday morning. Prioryman (talk) 20:33, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Sinking of the Titanic
Thanks for adding the connection between pack ice and extremely calm seas. When I read the witness' statement that the stars could be seen reflected in the sea, I thought, Strange. I never saw that in all those years at sea. This explains it. I was never near pack ice. Thanks for all your good work and openness. Rumiton (talk) 01:32, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
- As a matter of fact, I gather it's unusual even so. Ernest Shackleton, the Arctic explorer, testified at the British enquiry that he had only seen such conditions on a handful of occasions during his career. Prioryman (talk) 01:46, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
- I think I spent quite a few more years than Shackleton did, staring at the blue stuff through bridge windows, but mostly in lower latitudes. I don't doubt the theory is correct. Thanks again. Rumiton (talk) 09:32, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Titanic
Oh yeah sorry, I forgot to comment on the public outrage stuff. I really like it, I think it's really interesting and enhances the page. I hope you like it too, and didn't only do it for my sake! I did indicate on the FAC page that "I'm not really qualified to fully support" (because I'm very new there), but I will add a comment that it gets my support if applicable. Fantastic work on the page, it looks like a surefire for promotion and that is just great. I think the only thing it needs now is an image review (it has enough supports for promotion already, I'm sure). I may actually be able to help out there, I ended up pretty knowledgable about copyright in the course of preparing my own FAC. But again, it depends on whether the delegates will "trust" me or not. I just took a look at all of them and I think you should be okay, although a couple of them need US licensing tags, as well as UK/EU ones (images need to be PD in both the US and the country of origin). You may also be challenged over whether or not they were all definitely published in the US before 1923, but seeing as the sinking was a huge deal there I think it's safe to assume they were. --Lobo (talk) 19:25, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- Aw that's a nice thing to say, you're very welcome. I can't wait to see it featured on the main page! It's going to be one of the highest TFAs ever, I'm sure of it. FAC guidelines do explicitly ask you not to support/oppose in your first few reviews, which is why I was wary. But I do feel like I have a good grasp of the criteria. --Lobo (talk) 20:15, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Sinking of the RMS Titanic FAC
I'm not sure why you're worried – the article has more supports than I've seen in ages, and I'm certain no delegate will infer an oppose. I'm generally unwilling to support/oppose articles I haven't given a thorough-enough check. Best wishes, Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 21:11, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

- Thanks! :-) Prioryman (talk) 23:20, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
A friendly suggestion, but if you're worried that the size of the review page is getting rather long, utilize the talk page. My initial comments were made there with a link from the review page. We can't cap/collapse sections of the reviews, so the recommended procedure is to move the comments from Misplaced Pages:Featured article candidates/Sinking of the RMS Titanic/archive1 to Misplaced Pages talk:Featured article candidates/Sinking of the RMS Titanic/archive1, leaving behind a link. That way the page is streamlined, but the delegates can read the detailed comments if desired. The reason we can't use templates is that each FAC review page is transcluded from monthly archives once closed. (There's one for promotions and one for non-promotions.) If we used templates, those archives would exceed the transclusion limits, so template usage hasn't been allowed in long time. Imzadi 1979 → 00:53, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Main page appearance: Murder of Julia Martha Thomas
This is a note to let the main editors of Murder of Julia Martha Thomas know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on March 2, 2012. You can view the TFA blurb at Misplaced Pages:Today's featured article/March 2, 2012.
Kate Webster, the killer of Julia Martha ThomasThe murder of Julia Martha Thomas was one of the most notorious crimes in Britain in the late 19th century. Thomas, a widow who lived in Richmond in west London, was killed on 2 March 1879 by Kate Webster, her Irish maid (pictured). Webster dismembered the body, boiled the flesh off the bones, and threw most of it into the River Thames, allegedly offering the fat to neighbours as dripping and lard. Part of Thomas's remains were soon recovered but her severed head was only found in October 2010 during building works being carried out for the naturalist Sir David Attenborough. After the murder, Webster posed as Thomas for two weeks but was exposed and fled to her family home at Killanne, Ireland. She was arrested on 29 March and stood trial in London at the Old Bailey in July 1879, where she was convicted and sentenced to death. She confessed to the murder the night before she was hanged on 29 July at Wandsworth Prison. The case attracted considerable interest from the public and press in Great Britain and Ireland. (more...)
