Bror Hayil (Template:Lang-he-n) is a kibbutz in southern Israel. Located near Sderot, it fall under the jurisdiction of Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council. In 2007 it had a population of 462.
History
The village was established on 10 April 1948 on Jewish National Fund land, funded by Keren HaYesod. According to Israeli historian Benny Morris, the founding date was May 18.The founders were mostly immigrants from Egypt. Today many residents are immigrants from Brazil.
Bror Hayil was the only Jewish village founded between the UN Partition Plan and the Israeli declaration of independence.
According to Arab historian Walid Khalidi, it was established on the land of a depopulated Palestinian village named Burayr.
