Thanks for uploading Image:Slipknot II.JPG. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn 11:14, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:TheLizard.JPG
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:TheLizard.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:TheLizard.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:TheLizard.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Misplaced Pages:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 02:12, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Why in your opinion is it important to include that the person Brian is reacting to is the family band's record producer? These irrelevant plot details distract from the point of that section, and serve only to make the sentence longer. / edg ☺ ☭ 02:09, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Brainstew.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Brainstew.JPG. You've indicated that the image meets Misplaced Pages's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 13:43, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Misplaced Pages, as you did at This is Halloween, you will be blocked from editing. otherlleft 14:37, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- I looked at several versions and had to look again after you asked. That article was such a mess that it really did look like you just added to the problem. Yes, I can see that it was a good faith edit, but honestly I can't see that you made an improvement, either. You might consider using edit summaries to explain what you do - I looked long and hard and scratched my head and decided you were just adding to the problem, and an edit summary that didn't jibe with the conclusion would have prompted a message on your talk page asking what you were trying to accomplish. Sorry about that. --otherlleft 00:13, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for File:Deliriousnomad.JPG
Thank you for uploading File:Deliriousnomad.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Misplaced Pages:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free media (File:Symbolofsalvation2.JPG)
Thanks for uploading File:Symbolofsalvation2.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:48, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

Your recent album cover uploads.
Please don't upload large or hi-res versions of album covers. Per the Image use policy, the uploaded image must be as low-resolution as possible, and not be a substitute for the original work, because to be fair use, it must be minimal. The album cover images you are uploading are rather hi-res, and large enough that they could be used as substitutes for the original CD covers. There is rarely a reason that an album cover image needs to be larger than its display size in an article. Template:Infobox album#Cover advises it should be no more than 300px on at least one side (the maximum value of the "Thumbnail size" parameter) to satisfy fair use criteria. Please stop don't upload such large album cover images. --IllaZilla (talk) 03:48, 23 January 2011 (UTC)
Just as a follow-up, I see that most of the covers you've uploaded are fine siz-wise. File source problem with File:Dreamsofstabbingandorbeingstabbed.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Dreamsofstabbingandorbeingstabbed.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Misplaced Pages's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:19, 8 April 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fezmar9 (talk) 03:19, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:SD LPcover homepage.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:SD LPcover homepage.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. License tagging for File:Uplifter.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Uplifter.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Misplaced Pages uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Misplaced Pages. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:05, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

Better source request for File:Thejamsgreatesthits.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Thejamsgreatesthits.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 17:56, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Album covers
Noticed you're doing a lot of album cover work recently. Why did you move File:BYO Split Series Volume V cover.jpg to File:Byosplit5.jpg, a less descriptive filename? I moved it to the more descriptive filename back in March, and I can't imagine a single reason why you would move it back to a non-descriptive title. Also, I notice you're uploading new versions of a lot of covers. You really only need to do this if the image is smaller than 220px width or larger than 300px (per Template:Infobox album#Cover), or if there's some other problem with the image. Uploading 300px versions of images that were already between 220–300px, just for the sake of having larger versions, doesn't really jibe with WP:NFCC. When you do upload new versions, would you please (A) insert the URL where you got the image into the "source" field of the rationale, and (B) tag the image page with {{subst:furd}} so that the previous versions will be deleted? Thanks. --IllaZilla (talk) 22:20, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

Discussion on linking to streamed copies of albums
Misplaced Pages policy allows us to link to legal streamed copies of albums. It would be useful to draw up a guideline on how and when to link to such albums; however, there is concern that it may not be appropriate as the music would not be available in all parts of the world. Is the benefit of having access to the music for most users outweighed by the fact that some users will follow a link to find the music is not playable in their region? You're the first
Sorry you didn't like it as well as I had hoped, but you still get a bottle of champagne for being the first editor to actually use the Misplaced Pages:File Upload Wizard in earnest. Hope you'll still grow to like it :-) – Fut.Perf. ☼ 17:00, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
- No, actually I think I could get used to it. You just caught me in the middle of uploads and it threw me for a spin. Hope you didn't take offense. It does look like it will make things much easier on me. Here's to another 1000 or covers! I'll drink to that.Jasper420 17:03, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
