Channel 9 was a Malaysian private-owned television station which started operations in 2003 and started taking a break since February 1, 2005.

Test transmission started on April 1, 2006, airing music videos mostly in Malay.

On April 22, 2006, Channel 9 relaunched and renamed as TV9 after being sold to Media Prima, Malaysia's largest media company with the new slogan, 'Dekat Di Hati'. TV9 will air programmes mainly in Malay.

Despite focusing mainly on Malay programming, other races are not side lined. It has Chinese, Korean, Japanese, as well as Indian programmes on weekly basis. English programmes such as Crocodile Hunter, Mutant X, Guiness World Records Primetime are also aired. Children will be treated to Nickelodeon cartoons which is dubbed in Malay. It is aired daily from 3:00pm - 7:00pm.

TV9 currently broadcast Edisi 7, a Malay news at 8:00pm, courtesy of NTV7, before getting approval to air their own news.

At 12:00 noon and 12:00 midnight daily, it features Interactive TV services, where music videos is played and at the same time, viewers can chat by SMS.
