Discovery Channel Tamil an Indian Edutainmental Tamil Channel. Before Discovery Channel Tamil, Discovery used multiple audio feed on the Discovery Channel like user can switch audieos between English, Hindi, Telugu, Bangla and Tamil. The problem before with Discovery in Tamil audio feed is, it still had English on video feed and the ads are still in English and Hindi catering to the bigger market. Discovery found that with local advertising they could cater to local advertisements. This indicates they have good amount of viewership for Discovery in Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Puduchcheri and South India.
Now the New Discovery Channel Tamil is available in most areas in Tamil Nadu. But had negative impact on the DTH segment. Now DTH Networks had removed the Tamil audio feed from the original Discovery Channel. So the DTH like Tatasky does not have Tamil discovery in both forms. Dish TV, being one of the major DTH platforms, will drive Discovery Channel Tamil’s reach to viewers throughout India, especially catering to Tamil population in Northern India.
