Speculation and rumours about the game are rife. Several statements and actions made by Rockstar staff would appear to support these. Grand Theft Auto 4 will actually be the tenth title in the Grand Theft Auto series, but is anticipated to be built on an entirely new next-gen hardware platform, the Xbox 360. It is possible that the game will be set in an entirely separate plot/locale to its predecessors. PSM and CVG magazines have suggested that the game will be officially unveiled at this year's E3 show and will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive. But during the 2006 Microsoft E3 press conference, it was announced that Grand Theft Auto 4 would only be available for the Xbox 360 and not the PlayStation 3. According to Rockstar Games's own site on the game, logos for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 can be seen, suggesting that it will be released for both.
