Tajja Isen (born 1990 or 1991) is a Canadian actress and singer-songwriter who is best known for voicing the titular character in the television series Atomic Betty. She has several other voice credits, including the voice of Samantha in the movie Franklin and the Turtle Lake Treasure, Jane in the television series Jane and the Dragon, Jodie in the television series Time Warp Trio, and Sister Bear in the television series The Berenstain Bears.
Biography
Tajja Isen was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Jordie Isen, an orthopedist, and Karen and the eldest of four siblings, Joshua, Koebe and Nissae. She was born into an educated family, her maternal grandfather is an academic, her paternal grandfather is a piano teacher and her paternal great-grandfather, a trumpeter and former member with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. At ten years old, she began her voice acting career with The Berenstain Bears.
In 2004, she portrayed Young Nala in a Toronto production of Disney's The Lion King after she was rejected in her first audition the previous year and won an Equity Emerging Artist Award for that role.
In 2008, she started recording a piano-rock-jazz music album and worked with producers Jon Kelly, Jimmy Douglass and Paul Wickens but never released it. She cites Tori Amos, Kate Bush and Paul McCartney as some of her influences. As of 2008, she resides in Thornhill, Ontario. In 2009, she graduated from the Westmount Collegiate Institute and subsequently starting attending the University of Toronto as an English student.
