This is a documentation subpage for Template:Cfr. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page.

This template should always be substituted (i.e., use {{subst:Cfr}}).

Propose renaming a category. The template displays the proper links and the recommended {{Cfr2}} syntax for the next step.

Please follow overall instructions.

Usage

If a single category:

• {{subst:Cfr|ProposedName}}

ProposedName is the desired replacement name for the category.

If a group of similar categories or a category and its subcategories, use an umbrella nomination:

• {{subst:Cfr|ProposedName|SectionName}}

ProposedName is the desired replacement name for the category.

SectionName is the joint discussion section. It may be a category name, or any other unique name that reflects the nominations.

If you are unsure about the target name:

• {{subst:Cfr}}
• {{subst:Cfr||SectionName}}

Note that where the SectionName includes the category prefix, it must specified:

• {{subst:Cfr|Example|Category:Bishops}} — with category prefix
• {{subst:Cfr|Example|Bishops and archbishops categories}} — without category

• Please include "Cfr" in the edit summary, and don't mark the edit as minor.
• Preview before saving. The display will give more precise instructions about the next step.
