Copyright tags

The image was missing a copyright tag. The template I added stated "Please remove this template if a copyright license tag has been added." I've added a license tag. Do you understand now? Fair use rationale for File:Sue.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Sue.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Misplaced Pages:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Asgardian RFC/U

Hi there. I was wondering if you would help me finish up the RFC/U regarding User:Asgardian. I'm going to put the RFC into place before the end of the year, so it would really be great if you could provide any help you are able to give. What I need most are diffs displaying the disputed behavior. I have some already here, but could use some more. I mean just a list of diffs to put in the first five or so categories I listed there, as I already have more than enough illustrative examples. Anything that you think is edit warring (mutiple similar edits to the same article in the span of a few days), incivility, inaccurate edit summaries, or other similar behavioral problems. List them on the RFCU talk page - just the diffs is all I need, because I want people reading the RFC to be able to draw their own conclusions.

Also, I have come up with a desired outcome and a description of the case based on the comments that have been gathered, and I would appreciate any responses to that on the talk page.

Juggernaut

Now, I've accommodated the extra image, and fixed some mistakes. The extra material in the Bio is fine as not only does it avoid the weak language that was previously there, such as "later"; " found out what was going on"; "sucked into the portal in Xorn's head" etc; the fannish and unnecessary narrative about World War Hulk and the mixing of in and out of universe tenses. Please note I also said extra, that is, tracking all those key Juggernaut app. that explain what is going on with his powers; key meeting with characters that are not in the other version (which also isn't even sourced) and so on. I hope that helps.

DrBat, I would like to strongly encourage you rather than to continue edit warring with Asgardian, to instead participate in the on-going RFC either by endorsing one or more of the views presented, and/or adding a view of your own. Anti-Monitor

One: It is your obligation to explain, and garner consensus, on the article talk page for the change since your bold edit has been reverted.

Two: In all honesty your reload of the Crisis panel can be, and should have been, deleted as a recreation of deleted material.

Three: By all criteria in place at this point, the first appearance and original artist mean less than nil in how the comic book character articles are structured. The guidance is "most universally recognized appearance" of the character. In this case that is not dependant on it being Perez, Pelletier, Jimenez, Ross, or whomever. The only time it might is if the article included a section dealing with how/why Perez went for the design he went with.

Four: Personal taste - "I believe Foo's art is more relevant", "I dislike Foo's art" - is a bad benchmark. If an character box image misses the mark re the existing guidelines and the replacement corrects some or all of the deficiencies, then a change of artist isn't an issue. Here, the only change is artist - both images hit the guidelines the same way.

And a caveat on three - if you really feel that the guideline needs to be amended to favor the original artist(s) on the character (and that would mean swapping in a Ditko Spider-Man, Kane Batman and Grayson Robin, Shuster Superman, Kirby Jean Grey, and so on) then take that up at the Comics MoS talk page. If that is changes, then the Perez image would hit one more criteria.

Greetings. While you can of course contribute, I would advise against continuing with the blind reverts without any rationale. OK, here it is. You've been slapped over the wrist and worse for being a "blind reverter". It is long past time you stopped this as it only ends one way. The 2nd image is invalid because you can barely see the character. That is self-evident. If there was another really whiz-bang image of the character doing something new, then great. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be. That doesm't mean you wipe the other image because you didn't get your way. That's just immature. Why not put your energy into some other article that needs work instead?

Comic book series and covers

One: Converting to a "team" focused image when the article is about the series is bad.

Ultimate Six is about the limited series, not the Sinister Six of the Ultimate universe as a team. The more proper image would be the cover of the first printing of the first issue, regardless of the content of that cover.

Two: Uploading and converting to a the TBP for a series after a revert of you bold change gets reverted and without attempting to hash it out on the talk page comes off as petty.

The trade for a storyline or, in some cases, a cross over makes sense. But for a stand alone series it does not. And in this case it really comes off as wanting the team pick rather than an appropriate ID image for the series. And it doesn't help that the trade implies that the collected material is a story arc that was originally published in Ultimate Spider-Man.

Now, do you want to talk about it on the articles talk page or are you going to bull through to get your change?

I'm assuming this post was in response to this one. At least I hope it is... :)

No, it is unlikely that you would change my mind on the infobox. However such a discussion might turn up other options or things to do with the trade cover. For instance:

Mulling it over, there is a salient point that the trade cover does illustrate - instead of just issuing a trade under the title Ultimate Six, Marvel inserted it as the 9th Ultimate Spider-Man story arc. That is something that is notable about the publication of the series. It is part of the "Collected editions" section similar articles have. And it is something that can be illustrated by the cover of the trade. And, with that use, both images would have their own valid FUR that the other does not satisfy.

Care to take a run at writing up that section?

Re: Nightcrawler

Yeah, I know. The previous image was accepted for some reason (lighter background, full body, etc.) I just think that next time, you should offer up a stronger argument than commentary on a character's hair. Whether his hair is a bit longer than usual isn't that big of an issue in terms of artists' interpretations. Jean Grey, Emma Frost and almost any other character has been subject to wavier/straighter, longer/shorter hair. Hey, I got your message. The image you uploaded is A.) Not a great representation of how his dress defines his character, and B.) Very weak fair use rationale. The only reason Rachel has a promotional image is because of the fact that it represents her character. In fact, the only reason Kurt and Rachel have non-free images is because of the fact that their wardrobe can at times define their characters and a free image wouldn't represent that as well. The promotional image you uploaded only shows him with a fancy tie and regular dress, which would be equivalent to one that was deleted previously. The image could easily be substituted with one of the free images of Chris Colfer at the Misplaced Pages Commons, whereas the screenshot is depicting a fancy coat, tie, etc. that Kurt is regularly seen in. Those would both work. Just make sure you provide a strong rationale for it like on the original image. I have no problem with you replacing the image, it just has to meet the non-free requirements with a strong backup. They're really coming down on the non-free character images lately.
