Template:Coronation Street character

Royston "Roy" Cropper, played by David Neilson, is a fictional character on the soap opera Coronation Street.

Info

Roy is an intelligent but eccentric man whose behaviour and speech tend to be beyond the comprehension of the other characters. He is interested in history and archaeology, and is obsessed with trains, especially steam. It has been suggested that he has symptoms of autism, or possibly Asperger's Syndrome. He first came into the story as a tenant in a building owned by Mike Baldwin, and then came to work in the cafe alongside Alma Baldwin. When Alma sold up, Roy bought a share in the business. When Gail Platt also left, Roy became the sole proprietor, and changed the name to "Roy's Rolls."

He considers himself married to Hayley Cropper, although their marriage is not currently legally binding as Hayley Cropper is a transsexual woman. He was also officially married to Tracy Barlow when she tricked him into thinking he was the father of her daughter Amy. Tracy had agreed to give Amy to the Croppers in exchange for money, but changed her mind after Amy was born. This marriage was later annulled.
