This episode gave the English language the phrase "don't mention the war". Hotel manager Basil Fawlty (whose normal eccentricity is compounded even further in this episode by the effects of concussion) repeateadly tells his staff "don't mention the war" to a group of German guests, but - in a series of Freudian slips - repeatedly does so himself.
