Neo-Nazism refers to any political movement which seeks to revive or implement a government based on Nazism. Neo-Nazi movements are generally anti-Semitic, racist, and xenophobic. Their supporters are usually people suffering from economic distress, who blame their problems on immigrants and a presumed Jewish conspiracy. Most neo-Nazi groups also attempt to deny the Holocaust (see Holocaust denial). Because of their espousal of violence, neo-Nazis are of concern to law enforcement, ecven though most groups have very few members.

In Germany immediately after World War II, Allied forces and the new German government attempted to prevent the creation of new Nazi movements through a process known as denazification. With this and the total defeat of the Nazis, there was little overt neo-Nazi activity in Europe until the 1960s.
