Date of death

I think you can found some reliable sources with a quick Google research. --Phyrexian ɸ 15:29, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

I think the big problem is that - so far - all we have is a Facebook post from Hoover's son saying that he died, and then the info spread through the internet from there. My understanding is that we can't use FB as a source. The only link which currently is related to him from that Google search is the Examiner.com link, which admits that it uses the FB post as a source. I'm sure that something better will be available soon, but I don't think it's out there yet. 24.12.74.21 (talk) 21:36, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
Examiner.com is not a reliable source. Minimal editorial control and no fact checking. Cullen Let's discuss it 22:17, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
Fair enough. 24.12.74.21 (talk) 22:49, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

If you're coming here to add information about Quinton's death, first of all I want you to know that we appreciate your intent to update the article. However, one thing that is required of Misplaced Pages articles is that we have reliable sources about an article's subject, particularly if the subject is a living person, and even moreso if we are declaring that a person is no longer living.

My understanding is that the primary source of information is a Facebook post from his son, which is enough for me personally to believe and understand that he has passed away. However, unfortunately, since Facebook posts (much like forum posts) are not considered reliable sources, that is not enough to change information on Misplaced Pages. There are other sources out there which also report his death, but so far I haven't seen one which doesn't use the initial Facebook post as its primary source of information.

I am not entirely certain exactly what we need or would suffice as a reliable source, but I bet the following range between questionable to great:

  • Funeral homes usually post associated obituaries online, unless the family has requested they not do so
  • A local newspaper may likely print an obituary, or even a more full story of his life
  • Someone updates Quinton's own personal website to indicate his death
  • A known close associate or associated company (such as Wizards of the Coast) reports on their own personal website that they have spoken to his family and thus confirmed his death

There are probably other types of sources to look out for, but while I could be wrong, I think any of the above would suffice. Meanwhile, I have locked the page to new accounts and anonymous users for 3 days, and I feel that something should emerge in that time. if you find such a source, or any other sourced information not related to his death, and are unable to edit the article, then post here and myself or another administrator will edit the article and if acceptable unprotect the page. Thank you. BOZ (talk) 14:24, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Is this enough of a reliable source? 129.33.19.254 (talk) 14:32, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
I contacted the son and apparently they requested no obit. So I think that should suffice. He should also show up on the Social Security Death Index as well within the next few months. – Connormah (talk) 21:47, 24 April 2013 (UTC)
Good deal - thanks for going the extra mile! 129.33.19.254 (talk) 22:02, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Total accident

was my bad. Sorry. Misread the history, clicked on the wrong date, thought someone had removed valid information based on a ridiculous assumption of bad faith. Konjakupoet (talk) 16:05, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
