The Faculty of History at the University of Oxford organises the teaching and research of history in the University. Medieval and Modern History has been taught at Oxford for longer than at nearly any other University. The first Regius Professor of Modern History was appointed in 1724. It is part of the Humanities Division. The Faculty is in The Old School for Boys on George Street, Oxford and the Library is in the Old Indian Institute on Catte Street.
