Iranian Dynasty, named after Sasan, an ancestor of Ardashir I, who founded the family fortunes in Ad 224. Under his leadership, Persia defeated the Parthians and created a major but fluctuating empire extending from the Roman and Byzantine frontier in the west to centeral asia where it adsorbed most of the territories of the Kashans.
