According to several sources, including the athlete herself, the year 1914 was a transcription error that the Federazione Italiana di Atletica Leggera intentionally kept so that she could compete in higher age divisions. Here's the original Italian report and an English summary of what happened (split between paragraphs 1 and 3). The Italian report comes directly from an interview from the athlete, and goes against her own interests (basically saying that FIDAL has chosen to maintain false information), so I would guess that this is most likely to be true. I suppose mention of all this in the actual article wouldn't hurt... CanadianPaul17:31, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
The crazy thing is that it seems she has played with her date of birth, but I know personally (via Facebook), all members of the Ottoz family and they claim that she was born in 1917. Will ask Eddy Ottoz to intervene personally on this page. --Kasper2006 (talk) 06:29, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
