Respiratory distress or respiratory insufficiency, describes a condition that is charactarized by extreme shortness of breath.

This is a sign of inadequate respiration.

• Pulmonary dysfunction
  • Asthma
  • Emphysema
  • Pneumothorax
• Cardiac dysfunction
  • Pulmonary edema
  • Arrhythmia
• Exhaustion
  • Due to prolonged tachypnoe in metabolic acidosis
