Tereza Fajksová (born 17 May 1989 in Ivančice) is a Czech model, public administration specialist, environmentalist, and an international beauty pageant titleholder. She competed and won in the Miss Earth 2012 beauty pageant. Fajksová is the first delegate from the Czech Republic to win the Miss Earth title. She is also the first European delegate in the last ten years since 2002 and the third European to be crowned Miss Earth.
Biography
Fajksová comes from a small town in the south of Ivančice in the Czech Republic, where she spent her childhood with her grandparents, parents and brother. She has natural blonde hair and blue eyes. She attended elementary school at TG Masaryk in Ivančice and graduated from high school at the Louis Danka Sports Gymnasium in Brno. She has lived in Brno since her high school years.
Fajksova is a Public Administration graduate and hopes to pursue a second degree in Economics. Before she started her modeling career, she was a volleyball player. As captain of the team from Brno (Brno Kralovopolska Extraliga Volleyball Team), her team won three junior national championships in Czech Republic. Her career in volleyball ended when she had an injury which paved her door in the world of fashion and modeling.
Pageantry
Prior to being crowned Miss Earth Czech Republic 2012 and Miss Earth 2012, Fajksová has previously placed second runner-up in Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International 2010 and placed in the Top 24 of Miss Bikini International 2011.
Czech Miss 2012
Fajksova competed in the 2012 edition of the annual Czech Miss beauty pagent which was held on March 31, 2012 at the Karlin Musical Theatre, Prague. She emerged as one of the three winners and bagged the title, Czech Miss Earth 2012 which earned her the right to represent Czech Republic in the Miss Earth 2012 international pageant.
Miss Earth 2012
Fajksová, at the age of 23, was crowned Miss Earth 2012, during the 12th Miss Earth coronation night held at the Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, Philippines. She beat 79 other international delegates in a competition that took sustainable energy as its central theme, following the United Nations General Assembly’s declaration of 2012 International Year of Sustainable Energy for All.
The top four delegates were asked one question prior to the conclusion of the pageant, “What is your defining moment as a woman?” Fajksová, without the assistance of an interpreter, acknowledged her disfluency in the English language, and replied: “I’m so sorry but I don’t understand the question. I will try to send this message: We have to protect Mother Earth. She gives us everything we need in our lives. So let’s respect her so she’ll respect us.” Even though she did not understand the final question, she was confident and delivered an improvised answer through a meaningful message about protecting the environment and the earth which brought her the title of Miss Earth 2012.
She fell to the ground after being crowned by her predecessor, the Ecuadorian Olga Alava and suffered an ankle injury.
As the Miss Earth winner, Fajksova will become the new spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other environmental organizations. She is expected to dedicate her year to promote specific projects that address issues concerning the environment and other global issues.
Media and environmental activism
Fajksová regaled the kids with the story of “Amansinaya,” a story about a fishing community where nearly a thousand children from all over Metro Manila listened to stories about biodiversity and the riches of the planet during the two-day Inquirer Read-Along Festival at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center on November 26, 2012.
She was a guest at the dance show contest, Star Dance in Czech Republic with actor David Švehlík on December 15, 2012. and upon returning to the Czech Republic she was welcomed by her community and children in Ivančice and received an honorary award from the mayor of Ivančice. Became a guest of Jan Kraus Show and involved in helping sick children and sat in a call center charity show heart for children. On January 20, 2013, she attended opera born ball.
Tereza was on the runway highlighting the Styl a Kabo International Fashion Fair. This was the second time that she graced this event which runs from the 17–19 February in Brno Exhibition Center in Brno. She became the face of Jovanni International bags and start the campaign for L'Oreal Professionnel in Czech Republic. Miss Earth Tereza Fajksová and Czech Miss 2008 Eliska Bučková showed Swimwear Fashion Island to open a boutique in Prague. She became a guest in Czech game show with other Czech celebrities and became a Cover of Top Class Magazine base in Czech Republic.
On March 18, 2013, she also became a judge together with other Czech and Slovak celebrities judges like Iveta Vítová and Margaret Fuxová at the CEWE Photobook competition and played hostess on Tuesday edition of the Czech cooking show VIP Prostřeno where she prepares and cooked a four-course menu French cuisine. On March 24, 2013, she crowned her national successor, Monika Leova as Miss Earth Czech Republic 2013.
On April 6, 2013, Tereza traveled to Reunion Island in Africa, to grace and to serve as a chief judge of Miss Earth Reunion Island 2013 pageant. On April 9, 2013, the newly crowned Miss Earth Reunion, Chrystelle Abrantes, Tereza and national director Julie Nauche traveled to Mauritius to support the contestants of Miss Earth Mauritius 2013. She met President of Mauritius Kailash Purryag to discuss about environment issues and Led Mauritius' National Day of Mourning lay flowers to honor the dead people in floods and visitation of Sugar Plantation in Port Louis, Mauritius. The very first I Love My Planet Earth (ILMPE) School Tour outside the Philippines was held in Mauritius. Miss Earth 2012 Tereza Fajksova led the activities and the planting of trees within the campus. The ILMPE School Tour was initiated by the Miss Earth Foundation, Inc.
On April 18, 2013, Tereza traveled to Jakarta, Indonesia to launch a new franchise of Miss Earth Indonesia by organizer, founder and Chairman El John Pageants, Jhonnie El Sugiarto. She was accompanied by Cathy Untalan of Miss Earth Foundation. First day after she arrived in Jakarta, April 19, Tereza Fajksova graced the International Youth Green Summit (IYGS) 2013. She gave a talk about the theme “Changing the World Through Green Action” held in Sabha Widya, Wisma Makara, University of Indonesia. As a celebration of World Earth Day in April 22, Reinita Arlin, (Miss Tourism Indonesia 2012), and Tereza Fajksova planted trees in Water Eco Park in Cikarang, Indonesia together with Miss Untalan, Indonesian beauty queens and students more than 3,000 seedlings of trees. El John Pageants held a press conference to launch Miss Earth Indonesia wearing the traditional kebaya. A tree planting activity was also participated by the employees of the host hotel, Sutan Hotel. She planted trees together with local community in Cibitung. She became a guest in ANTV talk show during her stay and appeared in local newspapers. On her last day in Indonesia, Tereza visited the Buddhist temple complex in Jambi province. Aside from admiring the temple, Tereza did a tree planting activity in the area.
On April 30, 2013, Tereza had closed a deal for a car endorsement Hyundai Motor Company in Czech Republic. She was given a green Hyundai Veloster with her face on it as an early birthday gift. She was on the cover of May 2013 issue of Essentiale magazine, a publication that circulates around the Indian Ocean island nations of Reunion island, Mauritius, Comores, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Mayotte.
From May 27 to June 1, 2013, she traveled to Joensuu, Finland to attend the ENO Conference with the International Year of Water Cooperation and "ACT NOW" as its banner. Joensuu is located next to the Russian border and about 400 km North-East from Helsinki. The event took place in Joensuun Laulurinne. It is a pretty, park-like area designed specially for large events and surrounded by lake Pyhäselkä. Other highlights were a big mural painting, ENO Action Plan For Water with Miss Earth 2012 Tereza Fajksova who was also a presenter in the main event. The event culminated to a massive choir concert where over 10, 000 children sang together for environment and forthcoming summer in Finland.she was accompanied with Cathy Untalan and Cherry Lui (Miss Earth 2011 Semi Finalist).Tereza visited an elementary school and talked about her job as Miss Earth and the importance of saving the planet to students. Miss Earth 2013 carries the same theme of water conservation with programs and workshops that showcase the various projects of the students from Azerbaijan, Palestine, Guatemala, Brazil, Iran, India and Malaysia.
Tereza became the Cover of Patriot Magazine, the leading Czech Celeb Magazine.
From June 4 to June 10, 2013, she traveled to Cote D'Ivoire to celebrate the World Environmental Day (WED) in Abidjan. She was accompanied by Cathy Untalan, Miss Earth South Africa Tamerine Jardine and Miss Catherine Constantinide, Miss Earth Alumi/ Miss Earth South Africa National Director and MESA team to launch Miss Earth Cote D'Ivoire Pageant. She and her court did Tree Planting covered by media. She also celebrated World Ocean Day in Abijan where they do coastal clean-up and pick trash near the ocean and Visited various school together with tamerine to educated young children in preservation of our water resources. She also met the Ministers of Communications and Environment Organized by Miss Earth Cote'Ivoire led by Mr. Cheik Syll and Visiting National Park in UNEP Cote D'Ivoire.
On June 11, 2013, she traveled to Crete, Greece to relax and unwind with her grandmother.
Tereza, along with Miss Earth Czech Republic 2013 Monika Leova, led a tree planting activity at the Sumava National Park in Czech Republic to help to promote planting of the trees in the area that was badly damaged by bark beetles.
Tereza arrived June 28 in Juba for the Beauties of South Sudan competition where the new Miss Earth South Sudan will be crowned organized by Atong De Mach, Miss Earth South Sudan 2010. She became the international judge together with Miss Ines Putri Tjiptadi Chandra Miss Indonesia 2012 where Gloria Karsis won. Tereza will also promote the environmental advocacy of the Miss Earth Foundation and participate in environmental programs of the government. South Sudan will celebrate its 2nd year of Independence. Tereza paid a courtesy visit to the office of South Sudan's Minister of Information Hon. Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin. She was accompanied by Atong Demach (Miss Earth South Sudan 2010) and the Beauties of South Sudan 2013 winner and runner-up. Afterwhich, she also visited the memorial site of Dr. John Garang de Mabior, former Vice-President and a strong force in the independence of South Sudan.
Tereza graced another fashion Show by famous Czech fashion designer together with Gabriela Kratochvilová and other former Miss Czech.
Tereza and Miss Earth Air 2012, Stephany graced the grand coronation night of Miss Earth Ghana 2013. Aside from that, they had also met the Ministries of Foresty, Lands and Science and Technology Innovation in Accra, Ghana. They also took part in several environmental activities with Miss Earth Ghana 2012, Jennifer Maame Yaa Kyekye Tete and the Miss Earth Ghana 2013 candidates. She crowned Amabel Klutse as Miss Earth Ghana 2013.
Tereza also visited the beautiful castle in Litomysl, Germany with her friends. On, July 31, 2013, she became the cover on Profashion Magazine in Czech Republic.
From July 28 to August 1, Miss Earth Team travel to Colombo, Sri Lanka for Derana Veet Sri Lanka 2013. Tereza participated On July 29, 2013, in the Derana Green Walk, an activity which aims to promote environmental awareness amongst the citizens in Sri Lanka. This activity was organized by TV Derana, the national organizer of Miss Earth Sri Lanka. Ministers, public officials, students, teachers, parents, members of organizations, employees and other volunteers joined the contestants of Miss Earth Sri Lanka in this worthy cause. A program was held at the end of the walk where traditional ceremonies were conducted. Speeches were likewise delivered by the Minister of Environment, Hon. Susil Premajayantha and Minister of Environment in Western Province, Hon. Udaya Gammnpila. The candidates also had an eco-fashion show where they showcased upcycled and eco-friendly accessories including bags, earrings and necklaces. On July 30, 2013, Tereza visited Buddhist and Hindu temples and a Catholic church yesterday. She also visited a historical building in Colombo called the Mount Lavinia Hotel. Miss Earth Sri Lanka sponsor, Aminra Jewellers gave Tereza a beautiful necklace which symbolizes the sun. She also visited Odel, an establishment that has a special program for animal protection. On July 31, 2013, she crowned Solange Kristina Gunawijeya from Colombo as the new Miss Earth Sri Lanka 2013.
Tereza went on a holiday trip in Slovakia with her parents hiking the Tatra Mountains after a whirlwind of traveling as Miss Earth. She trade in her crown, sash, curling iron, make up and expensive dresses for trekking shoes, shorts, tracksuits, sweatshirst and backpacks for a few days.
Tereza Fajksová was back in the Czech Republic for the 5th staging of STYL A KABO fashion fair in Brno this past weekend. Tereza has become the major star of the event showcasing exclusive creations from fashion houses like Oscar de la Renta, Emilio Pucci and Elie Saab. The most beautiful woman on Earth lives in Brno so its impossible for Tereza not to feel at home. Tereza was absolutely blown away from the fashions shown on the runway especially from Obsession boutique and would like to take some home but the couture dresses cost around half a million crowns. "I wore a dress that cost four hundred thousand and the price really reflects the quality of that dress", said Tereza.
On September 26, 2013 . Once again our queen travel to Cote D'Ivoire together with Newly Crowned Miss Earth South Africa 2013 Ashanti Mbanga to promote and to Crown the first ever Miss Earth Cote D'Ivoire 2013. They plant trees and participate the several environmental activities.
Aside from Czech Republic, Philippines, Reunion Island in Africa, Mauritius, Indonesia, Finland, Cote D'Ivoire, Greece, South Sudan, Ghana, Germany, Sri Lanka and Slovakia. Tereza is expected to visit New Guinea, Mexico and Singapore and many more countries in the upcoming days.
