Joseph Vijay is a Tamil actor, born June 22, 1974. He is affectionately known as Ilaya Thalapathy among his fans, which literally means Young General and is credited onscreen as such. He has appeared in a large number of movies and is as well an ambassador for various brands.
Personal Life
His is born to S.A.Chandrasekara, a producer, writer and director and Shoba Chandrashekara, and married his wife Sangeetha in August 1999. He has two children, a son, Jason Sanjay, born in 2000, and a daughter, Divya Saasha, born in 2005. He dropped out of Loyola College, Chennai, while trying to achieve a bachelor's degree in Visual Communications.
Career
He made his debut as hero at the age of 18 in the film Naalaya Theerpu in 1992. His second movie, Senthoorapandi, released one year later. Later on, at the age of twenty, he had his first successful release, Rasigan. Many hit movies followed, among them Poove Unakkaga, Kadhalukku Mariyadhai and Thulladha Manamum Thullum. While he was filming Minsara Kanna in 1999, he married Sangeetha.
Awards
- Tamil Nadu state's Best Actor award for Kadhalukku Mariyadhai in 1997.
- Dinakaran Best Actor Award in 2004 for Ghilli.
