Bon Jovi's third and most commercially successful album Slippery When Wet was released in August of 1986. It sold over twelve million copies in the U.S. and spawned two #1 singles, "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' On a Prayer".

Jon Bon Jovi initially didn't want to include "Livin' on a Prayer" on the album, as he didn't think it was a good song. Ironically, it became one of the band's most popular and well-known songs.
