New taskforce

Hi Jinkinson! I'm in the process of creating a new taskforce under Wikiproject Medicine, namely the Society and Medicine taskforce (here: Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Medicine/Society and medicine task force). I was wondering, seeing as you've shown an interest in creating biographical articles, if you'd like to participate? There's no obligations, and I envision this task force as being a way to track and improve the quality of biographies and other articles relating to the medicine and your society, and provide a common forum for discussion. This is a collaborative venture so feel free to edit the task force page; and I'd welcome any feedback! LT910001 (talk) 03:01, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for November 10

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Toxicology in Vitro, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page St. John's University (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Misplaced Pages:Arbitration Committee Elections December 2013/Candidates

Just a head's up, but you're listed twice as a candidate. You might want to delete one of them. Good luck! Liz 02:30, 12 November 2013 (UTC) Really? I looked and it looks as though I am only listed once. Thanks, by the way. Jinkinson talk to me 02:33, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Now you are not listed as a candidate at all. Secret had already removed your double, then you removed yourself. If you are running, you need to revert your own edit. Neutron (talk) 04:46, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for helping Misplaced Pages

Hi Jinkinson. Sorry your ArbCom candidacy didn't go better. I did see a number of people say some very positive things about your work here. I'd also like to say that Misplaced Pages is lucky to have you volunteering here, which is very generous of you. Thanks for that. I hope this hasn't been too discouraging as you're obviously an asset to the project. Anyhoo, I just wanted to thank you for your service to the project. Thanks. 64.40.54.197 (talk) 04:58, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Aide et Action

Hi Jinkinson, I saw that you marked Aide et Action as reviewed today. I just wanted to let you know that the article was a blatant copyright violation (and had already been deleted as such once before) and I've just deleted it again. If you're not already doing it, please try to do a quick google, or at least a "is this plausible original writing" check on articles you review, to help avoid passing copyvios out of the review queue. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 14:38, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

There's a helpful tool at toollabs:/copyvios/ that will automatically check articles for copyright violations. Best. 64.40.54.125 (talk) 05:31, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

Hello

Thank you for looking after articles including chancing upon those I write on maps. The article I just created already had 3 further reading references and one external link, which I just saw didn't work at the same minute after I saved the page and was just in the middle of fixing that, when you already tagged it. Please try to wait at least few more minutes before tagging a new article, especially as there was an external link that was just an error to fix. Thank you. אומנות (talk) 00:21, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

Noted. I will try to wait longer when new pages patrolling in the future. Excellent work on that article, by the way. Jinkinson talk to me 00:29, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

Thank you very much! I'm glad to know you like the article's shape and I realy appreciate your patrolling. I hope next time I won't have more problems with the external links so that you also won't have to spend time on tagging it. Thanks again. אומנות (talk) 00:53, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

Ways to improve Pathophysiology (journal)

Hi, I'm Kudpung. Jinkinson, thanks for creating Pathophysiology (journal)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. In order to avoid deletion, please provide reliable, independent sources per Misplaced Pages:Notability (academic journals). Thanks.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:40, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

Scheduled deletion of page "Enlightened Life Fellowship Church"

Hello,

I am attempting to understand how to fix the errors/problems on the page so that a deletion does not occur. I apologize, I have a TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) which causes comprehension of reading instructions to be extremely difficult for me. Our attorneys, the Colorado Department of Higher Education, the Colorado Secretary of State, as well as our local community has aided myself and my co-founder, in person, in forming this new denomination/church. Is there a possibility that someone could call me at (719) 373-2124 to give me a simple overview of what I must do to fix these errors. I would as my co-founder; however, he will be out of town in conference for another few weeks. To be a part of Misplaced Pages is extremely important to us. We have much more to add to our page, as time goes on. I am simply very confused on what I have done that is incorrect and how to rectify the problem.

I did read the comments that were made concerning reasons for deletion, which were emailed to me.

I must state my case and would appreciate this being shared. We are a new Christian Denomination with a a home base in Colorado Springs, CO. We are now training ministers, who are currently ordained within the United Church of Christ and the Metropolitan Community Church, who will be opening 4 new churches in Wyoming, Kansas, Pennsylvania and California. The page is not fluff. It is exact information about who we are. Martin Luther, upon separating and starting his own following was no different than we are now. The amount of google hits that a website has had should not determine the value of information on an institution. The page is NOT promotional in any way shape or form. It is meant to be strictly informative. With new churches opening and our community efforts, we want people to be able to research us in as many ways as possible. We may be considered a local church at this point and time; however, the Metropolitan Community Community church would have been considered local as well and look how that denomination has grown. Within the next 8 months we will be fully registered with the Colorado Department of Higher Education as a Seminary. We are simply waiting for the finalization of the donation of the school property to go through. When it comes to the notability of a Church it is that it serves the greater good. I can supply a plethora references from pastors across the country stating as to how Pastor Charter and I have been doing just that in our decades of ministry. As far as what is relevant for an encyclopedia ..... any all and any information, no matter how mundane it may seem. I my self have researched Misplaced Pages for information I knew I would find no where else. As far as being a Certified Reiki Master, Iridologist, Aromatherapist, etc. bringing notability to the church, for the many spiritual healing and self help awareness beliefs we have these areas bring much notability to the denomination and the church. There are MANY pastors who are Reiki masters, iridologists and such! Just because one has not met one does not mean we do not exist. We not only help people on their spiritual path but we help them learn to help themselves. I ask that you and the board of reviewers, please, make a decision to keep the article; and as we grow and are able to help communities across the county, more information can be added. Yes, we are a new denomination. Yes, every denomination/church starts small. However, our credibility comes from our many years of independent service, our focus on expansion, our desire to help people without a "what's in it for me" attitude. I aske that you make a decision to give us a chance. If your decision is to stay with the deletion of the article, I can do no more than to honor that decision; however, I would hope that you would see even though we are new. We deserve the opportunity to be researched.

Here are the reasons for deletion:
Delete per nom. No independent Google hits at all. -- 101.119.15.84 (talk) 06:11, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
Delete I wouldn't expect much in the way of Google hits for it - it's only been been up and running for about a week. I don't know much about American Christian ministers/pastors or whatever, except for what I see here. I will say I've not come across one before who was a "Certified Reiki Master, Iridologist, Aromatherapist and Master Herbalist" though. I don't think that affects the notability of the Church anyway. Peridon (talk) 15:13, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
Delete No independent reliable sources, fails WP:GNG. unsigned post by Tom Morris. Peridon (talk) 15:52, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
Delete - Promotional tone and primary sources, not to mention the second paragraph is complete fluff. Unsurprisingly, Google News and browser searches provided nothing aside from their website. Out of the current references, only one is not primary and that's the Secretary of State ID which basically means nothing to an encyclopedia. Their website says it's based in Colorado Springs so I searched with that but found nothing aside from primary again, a new local church probably wouldn't receive that much attention anyway. You seem to have reverted my contribution. Why? It was a perfectly valid point and a factual one at that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Scarbraa (talkcontribs) 01:23, 17 November 2013 (UTC)

It seems to have been unreferenced. If you are sure that the word pint was invented by Eddie Burns, add a reference to a reliable source that says so when adding it to this website. Additionally, you linked to Eddie Burns, but the only Eddie Burns on this encyclopedia is an Australian rugby league player, which convinced me that your edit was likely made up. If it isn't, I apologize, but it looks like you have vandalized this site a few times before, so it wouldn't be surprising if this were just one more case of your having done so. Ok, I've created our page: Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Good articles/Recruitment Centre/Recruiter Central/Archives/Jinkinson. One word of warning when working with me: I tend to have a lot going on in my life, which polite people would say makes me a bit scattered at times. (My family, who's not so polite, says, "She's got book smarts, but she's ditzy." How sexist is that! ;) ) Anyway, I suggest that you ping me to make sure that I follow up as needed. Page patrol

Was just curious as to why you chose not to nominate David_McCrum for speedy deletion, I was going to so nominate but seemed rude to do so without mentioning it. --nonsense ferret 23:15, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Good question. With unsourced BLPs, sometimes it's hard to tell whether it should be speedied or prodded; I tend to prefer prodding since that gives them a chance to find and add sources. Jinkinson talk to me 23:17, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
You got to it first, so I'll respect that choice, but a claim to notability based on five-a-side football in the UK, which is not a professional sport, nor widely reported in news sources, I would have guessed classic A7. --nonsense ferret 23:24, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, you're right, it probably should have been speedied. However, ever since people started declining some of my speedy deletion nominations I have preferred to err on the side of caution and prod rather than speedy when dealing with short articles that aren't really, really short, and which sometimes actually make a claim that they are well-known for something. If you want to speedy it, though, go ahead. Jinkinson talk to me 23:31, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Updating URLs

This is Cory Panshin. Because of a screw-up at the domain host for our website, links using the old ISP-issued address of www.enter.net/~torve no longer work, while those using our own domain name of www.panshin.com function properly. I began going through the numerous entries with references to our website in order to change the non-working links to working links. All of these go to the identical pages at the same service provider as before. I have not added any text to the entries or made any attempts to spam. However, all my changes have been reverted and I have been warned that I may be blocked from editing if I "harm" any more pages. How do I get the links updated without offending your extremely vigilant editors?

Thanks for helping with new page curation. Biographies of living persons that have no reliable sources should be tagged with WP:BLP PROD. Current policy does not allow such articles to remain published without at least one reliable source. Of course, if a source is added, then the BLP PROD should be removed. - MrX 15:31, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of Richard B. Norgaard.

Hello, I am new to WikiPedia, and I was creating the article, and forgot o add a reference before I saved the first draft. I have now added two sources, and I do not have many sources simply because I do not need many- this page is for my father. Please review again, as I do not want to have the page deleted.

Thank you, Matt Norgaard. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mattnorgaard (talkcontribs) 21:16, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Unfortunately, not just anyone gets to have a Misplaced Pages page--your father's page will only remain here if you can add references to independent reliable sources--being his son, you are not an independent source. It looks like your father is fairly well-known, though, so there should be some sources you can add which would justify the removal of the PROD tag, such as this link. In case you weren't aware of its existence, here's the master list of all delete sort categories: Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Flat. Happy editing! Closing VPR discussion

Hi,

Considering the feedback from the community at large, I thought it was sensible to close your proposal at the Village Pump, since the discussion didn't look like it would head somewhere. I hope you don't mind me closing.

Deletion sorting

Hi Jinkinson, thanks for contributions to deletion sorting. However I noticed you delsorted this deletion discussion under People. Where a person is eligible to be listed under Businesspeople, Actor etc. it's best to list them there, rather than under People as it just swamps that generic People delsort. For example a Painter would be listed under People & Visual arts whereas a Track & Field athlete would be listed under Sportspeople. A list of delsorts, alternative to people can be found here. Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Thaikkudam Bridge

Hello Jinkinson. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Thaikkudam Bridge to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 16:24, 3 December 2013 (UTC)

Please let me know how to retain the page I have created about Sri Siddheswarananada Bharati Swamiji yesterday. I have provided URL as link for the Peetam I referred too in my page as original source.

A1

Hey, Jinkinson, I've just declined an A1 tag you placed on an article. A1 is only for articles that have so little content that it is impossible to tell what the article is actually about, but this article (Church of God Rayos de Esperanza (Harrisonburg, Virginia, Pastor: Angel Echegoyen - Spanish Language)) is pretty clear about what its subject is. Also, in passing, it's recommended to give articles time before placing A1 or A3 (no content) tags on them, in case the author is still working on them; 10-15 minutes is generally the recommended minimum. As far as this article goes, it certainly doesn't seem to be notable at all, but as it doesn't fit any CSD criteria, it's probably best to use other means, like PROD or AFD. Futanari Page

Why are you protecting Niabot's image? It is needlessly pornographic, adds very little to the article, and makes the page look unprofessional. He only protects it because he is personally attached to it. 70.112.2.185 (talk) 13:57, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

I don't like it either. However, Misplaced Pages is not censored and a lot of discussion has gone into the debate over whether this image should be there. If you want it to be removed go to the talk page and make your case there. Also, see WP:NPA. Jinkinson talk to me 14:00, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
After a certain point someone needs to step in and stop people from adding needless graphic content to pages, even if others agree. Letting the article's state be dictated by whoever spends the most time arguing just isn't a viable path. 70.112.2.185 (talk) 00:40, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for editing my page up to standard. I'm not sure how it works, but I hope that you read the article and see that it is not actually a candidate for speedy deletion (CSD). Once again, thanks. EmaadP92 (talk) 18:48, 6 December 2013 (UTC)EmaadP92

Promotional tone and citation

You said it is a promotional tone. Would help me in this regard? How not to make it promotional especially if it is an introduction about something?

You have asked about citation that I will work on as long as the article does not go into delete section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Quwatkhan (talkcontribs) 06:28, 7 December 2013 (UTC)

What the article needs are reliable sources independent of the subject, so that rules out The Dardistan Times' Facebook and Twitter pages, for example. By "promotional tone" I am referring to the use of peacock terms such as "hard-hitting"; Misplaced Pages articles should not be written like an advertisement. Additionally, there are problems with, for example, the UNHCR source, in which the Times is mentioned, but it is not the subject of the UNHCR article. Read WP:WEBCRIT for more information. Jinkinson talk to me 16:40, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
:Thanks for your help. I will go through it again and see if I can improve. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Quwatkhan (talkcontribs) 18:46, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

"Something sweet artisan cafe's" article

Hello Jinkinson.Could you help me please to clarify where the issues are in the article ? (if you have the time at the moment that is) Thanks Sugarbasin (talk) 00:20, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Sure. Take the sentence "Founded by three brothers with a passion of doing something different in the credit boom." This suggests that you may have a connection with this company and/or its founders, as it is not sourced. Which brings me to the need for more reliable sources--the article currently has only one, and much of it seems to be original research, which Misplaced Pages generally frowns upon. In retrospect, it's not that promotional, but it could do without sentences like the one I quoted above. Jinkinson talk to me 00:26, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Ok well, i just made a few edits and changed the sentence you highlighted. would you mind checking it again to see if the changes are appropriate? Sugarbasin (talk) 00:30, 8 December 2013 (UTC) maybe remove the word >different< from the sentence also? Sugarbasin (talk) 00:32, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

New Page Patrol

Hi. Thank you for patrolling new pages. Please return to Something Sweet Artisan Cafe's and be sure to tag it appropriately as not meeting notability requirements for lack for multiple, in-depth sources. Alternatively, you may wish to search for more sources. Thanks. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:04, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Immediate block can and should be sought

Hey Jinkinson. I just wanted to let you know that when you come upon an editor like Mormonpride333 posting blatant racist hate speech, you can report immediately to WP:AIV. Misplaced Pages is not a bureaucracy. Any admin worth their salt would block this account in a second (without the need for any slavish adherence to the normal warning scheme or even a single warning having been left), and it would be good if that did occur as fast as possible given the nature of the edits. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 06:06, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Category:Autism journals

Hi, There are two issues with this cat you just created. The first one is technical: it is a subcat of Category:Psychiatry journals, so if a journal is added to "autism journals", it should be removed from "psychiatry journals". The second point is more fundamental. I'm not sure it is a good idea to have a category for journals on a single disease, because it gives the wrong impression, namely that these are the only journals publishing on autism. Almost all (if not all) journal in "psychiatry journals" will regularly publish research related to ASD. Obviously, you cannot categorize any journal that has ever published something on autism in "autism journals". For one thing, that would include all "psychiatry journals", and probably a good amount of "neuroscience journals", "neurology journals", and "pediatrics journals", too. Have a look at Category:Medical journals and you'll see that they are all named after areas of specialization, not specific disorders. In addition, I personally think that "autism" is actually a collection of disorders that look similar, but have different causes. Should that ever be proven, then we'd have to re-categorize everything again (but I admit that the latter issue is only very minor). Let me know what you think. --Randykitty (talk) 16:05, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

This first point is a good one. I have removed it from the category psychiatry journals. As for the second point, I suppose that it is true that we see articles in journals like Nature that have to do with autism even though such journals do not publish exclusively in this area, but maybe a new name for my category, like "child psychiatry journals", would be more appropriate. Perhaps a thread should be started at WP:CFD. Jinkinson talk to me 16:13, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Removing the category "psychiatry journals" is not a good idea at all. You cannot have a "standalone" category, it has to be integrated into the category tree. So if "autism journals" is going to stay, it must be in "psychiatry journals" (and the individual entries removed from that cat). Making a cat "child psychiatry" would make more sense in the current framework of journal cats, but that would add just 4 more journals. The psychiatry journal cat has only 81 entries, so I don't really see the need to split off more subcats. --Randykitty (talk) 16:47, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Alright, you have convinced me that this category should not exist. It is now empty and I have tagged it for speedy deletion. Jinkinson talk to me 16:54, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Great, thanks! --Randykitty (talk) 17:00, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Update regarding AfC backlog drive auto-updating with AFCBuddy

Manual updating of your Backlog Elimination Drive page is no longer necessary. The AFCBuddy bot is now automatically updating AfC reviews that are performed when using the Helper script. The bot-generated pages are located at: Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Articles for creation/December 2013 - January 2014 Backlog Elimination Drive/.

Importantly, please note that any re-reviews you may have performed will need to be manually copied and pasted to the bot-generated pages. Thank you for participating in the drive. Northamerica1000 19:35, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Do I have to add something

Hi Jinkinson, thank you for editing my new page. I'm new on wikipedia and I'm wondering about the text: "This article relies on references to primary sources. Please add references to secondary or tertiary sources. (December 2013)". The source is from 1go1.net and from the German version https://de.wikipedia.org/Marc_Lee . Do I have to add something? Would it help, if I ad links to the exhibition spaces, that the reader could see the artist name on this external page? Please also consider the mentioned books on the bottom of the page https://en.wikipedia.org/Marc_Lee . Best, monika

What I mean by primary sources is that several of the handful of links in the external links section are to Lee's own website, 1go1.net. It would help if you added links/references that weren't created by Lee himself. Other than that, thanks for translating the article into English. Third opinion request

The 3O request you made on behalf of Softlavender and Genometer has been removed because there has not been any thorough talk page discussion of the issue as required by the 3O guidelines. Per the dispute resolution policy, all moderated content dispute resolution requires that the dispute be extensively discussed by the disputants before assistance will be provided. Hey

Have some patience. Many authors take a few edits to complete a new article. By editing it within a few minutes of their edits, one can create edit conflicts that can disrupt their work flow, and if they dont have a cache, make them lose a lot of hard work.--Metallurgist (talk) 21:30, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Sorry. I was just trying to save the page from being speedied, but I guess my intervention was, and often is, not needed. Jinkinson talk to me What did he do now? 21:34, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

hi, why am i getting proposed for deletion messages even after the submission of sufficient references? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vamseesasidhar (talkcontribs) 13:11, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

I am looking at SIva Balaji, and all I see are links to other Misplaced Pages articles, rather than references to independent sources. Links to other Misplaced Pages articles aren't sufficient references, see WP:RS. Jinkinson talk to me What did he do now? 13:33, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

I've removed the speedy deletion template, as there does now seem to be a legitimate claim of notability and a little editing removed the spammy parts. If you're still concerned about the notability of the group, you're welcome to take it to AfD. J Milburn (talk) 19:27, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Hey, this is about the Welcome to the show re make. I tried to link that page to the Artist profile but i could not do it, that's why i made a new page for it. I was talking to the person who made the original page as i did it, we are working on making that page perfectly up to standards with wiki( The Jokerr page and all affiliated pages) and that was the only option i saw to make it link to the Welcome to the show page.

Joshuaaaronhill (talk) 06:04, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Unfortunately, it appears the Jokerr's article is up for deletion, and is probably going to get deleted as it doesn't appear to meet our notability guidelines for musicians; thus his albums' articles will likely get deleted as well. Try finding more reliable sources than YouTube and iTunes if you want the Jokerr's article to stay. Jinkinson talk to me What did he do now? 14:47, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for December 12

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Cardinal Health, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page CVS (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
