Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Political activities of the Koch brothers (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – Yet another content dispute in one of the chronically troubled Koch articles. Roccodrift (talk) 19:45, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

There appears to be discussion about this going on, so locking the article would only interfere. Oh, and by some coincidence, the current version is the one Rocco edit-warred into place, so his motives are impure. MilesMoney (talk) 19:52, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

    How I Met Your Mother (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Long-term vandalism, last protected in June. -- LuK3 (Talk) 19:41, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

    Bertons (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Indefinite create protection: Repeatedly recreated. Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 19:30, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

    Misplaced Pages:Redirect (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Temporary semi-protection: Disruptive editing by new accounts. Jackmcbarn (talk) 18:39, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Declined I see a total of four edits today, two of which were reverted. Hardly a case for protection. John Reaves 19:21, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
Early this month it happened multiple times as well. Looking over the history of that page, it's happened many times before. How often it will continue, I have no idea. Are there any edits that IP addresses or new user accounts make which are valuable to this particulate page though, or is it only vandalism? Dream Focus 21:46, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

    ThunderCats (1985 TV series) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

    • Permanent Semi-protection. A different IP address keeps appearing to re-add the same incorrect information to this article, and gets reverted by different people. Examples of different reverts being necessary: There are more, I just figured that's enough examples of this. IP address adds in false information, someone reverts them, a different IP address does the exact same thing later on, and so forth. The article history list the last 50 edits, and a considerable number of them are just reverting this one person for months now. If the protection isn't permanent, no way to stop them from just coming back a month later, as they have done in the past. Dream Focus 18:37, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

    IP hopper Filipino vandal

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Biographies about deceased Philippine actors/artists/celebrities that are being targeted by an IP-hopper geolocating to the Philippines, with the vandal making repeated hoax edits where he/she removes death dates etc and edits the articles to look as if the subjects of them are still alive and active. Edits that are becoming increasingly frequent, with the articles now being attacked every day. Over the past three days three different IPs (112.210.102.97 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), 112.207.192.211 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), 112.207.221.104 (talk · contribs · WHOIS)), all geolocating to Cebu City, have been blocked, but the vandal doesn't seem to have any problems finding new IPs. Thomas.W 17:11, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

History of theology (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – removal of necessary information by ip and section blanking. miszatomic 17:09, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Just one IP address doing the vandalism, they having done the same edits to that page last month as well. Perhaps just block this IP address. Dream Focus 21:48, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

    Beyoncé (album) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. High traffic page, due to its high-profile and surprise release by a highly successful female recording artist. livelikemusic 16:06, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Origin of the Romanians (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary Full-protection -persistent edit warring between accounts 86.127.26.109 (talk) 10:13, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Declined Users appear to be discussing it. Thingg 19:15, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

    Farshad Fotouhi (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Temporary Full-protection -persistent vandalism and WP:BLP concerns

Also paid editing concerns. Someone may have been paid to write the most flattering article possible about this corrupt man and is now battling desperately to ensure that the truth published in Crain's Detroit Business does not get added back in. Detroit Joseph (talk) 22:33, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Further information: Misplaced Pages:Edit requests Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
