Partly, not as active but back in some capacity. Tbh, just thought f**k Daft, he chases contributors away, then it's just a victory for his petty campaign. Howzat?Out!Out!Out! (talk) 17:11, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

Great to see! It would be a huge loss to the project and the thousands of people who read the articles you write if you were forced off the project by that idiot. Hope your enjoyment of editing returns, Jenks24 (talk) 17:48, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm still on my crusade to get stubs for all English fc cricketers, only 2000 or so to go! Howzat?Out!Out!Out! (talk) 18:15, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
Welcome back, AA. I like the photo of The Burys. I'll try and help with the redlinks. Don't let arsequiffs like Arsehole get you down (is that the right way around?). All the best and keep up the good work. Oh, you might be interested in this. ----Jack | 18:43, 12 September 2012 (UTC)
Found that picture by chance, hopefully plenty more out there. And that sounds about right for Daft, as a choice of words goes, that's fairly diplomatic. I'm sure the Urban Dictionary has plenty of words to call him! Howzat?Out!Out!Out! (talk) 19:19, 12 September 2012 (UTC)

IP range 109.144.xxx.xxx

Hi AA. Please see my reverts this morning to Albert Rhodes (Lancashire cricketer), John Pugh (cricketer) and Reece Topley. When Daft uses his iPhone, he invariably has an IP in this range (occasionally 109.145 too) so you need to check your watchlist for all instances of these IPs and then do a rollback via Twinkle, which is a couple of clicks compared to all the hours he has spent behaving like something at play school. I've asked TRM if we can somehow block the range or at least get a list of all unreverted edits by its IPs.

I had a call from a chap in the ACS who wanted to chat about WG and he said he was glad you have not given in to Asquith. Their view of him is the same as ours. A lot of their members use CRIC, mainly because it's always first up on Google, and they're keen to see it succeed. All the best. ----Jack | 05:41, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Holiday

One last edit before I go away for three weeks (flying tomorrow). I'm really glad you're back. All the best and keep at it. I made a start on the Gloucs redlinks (stubs only).

Hampshire were good today. ----Jack | 22:18, 15 September 2012 (UTC)

Bowling speed

Just wondering whether there should be an article on Bowling speed, a term so frequently used in Bowling (cricket) yet there's no mention of it in the 'pedia. Or would a sentence or two at Glossary of cricket terms be sufficient enough? It's funny (and odd), because the glossary has not a single definition of what a bowling speed is from what I see, yet the word "speed" is being used so many times. Perhaps this is a too trivial detail to deserve an article or definition? Any thoughts? Mar4d (talk) 13:09, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Geoffrey Collins

Hey there, hope you're well. An article for a Sussex cricketer Geoffrey Collins (1918) (CA - 28650) already exists, but should someone write an article on Sussex cricketer Geoffrey Collins (1909) (CA - 28651) also be required, these two individuals will need distinguishing - where distinguishing by team will be impossible - and then the 1918-born cricketer will need to be moved, and disambiguation made clear on the base page.

All the best. Bobo. 15:49, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

Harry Robson and Leonard Summers

Hello. I came across the Robson article and noticed a curious entry on its talk page which suggests you are receiving attention from a troll. I followed the IP edits to Summers, another attack on you, and then to a season review which could be a legit edit although I decided to undo it. It definitely looks like a troll at work and so you should be aware of it as your talk page header suggests you have been targeted in the past. I'm escaping festivities for a moment but I hope you are enjoying yours. Good luck in 2013. --Old Lanky (talk) 20:37, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

A thought

Hi. Good to see you back and, for a retired person, pretty active. During your disengagement, the bots have sharpened up their act, and I noticed a couple of the cricket bio stubs you created yesterday had a pretty instant "orphan" tag added. User:Harrias (mainly) and I (to a much lesser extent) have been creating "List of Fooshire CCC Players" for the first-class counties where no such list exists and for other List A-playing teams with the simple aim of avoiding orphan status for these smaller cricket bios: we'd got up to around 2500 orphans, which doesn't reflect well on us. If every time you created a new article you were to add the cricketer's name to the relevant "List of...", then the bots wouldn't get exercised. Just a thought. I'm gently going through these lists and adding redlinks as well, but that takes time, which I don't have much of at present: so far, I've only done Essex and a bit of Gloucestershire. Surrey Club cricketers

I noticed that you'd created this category. The text introducing the category currently has a red-link for Surrey Club. I assume that you'll be creating an article for that? Did you know that there's already an article for Surrey teams preceding the current county club at Surrey cricket team? JH (talk page) 14:42, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Was there actually a Surrey Club as a continuing entity, rather than the name given to the Surey side in matches arranged from time to time oin an ad hoc basis? The article on Montpelier Cricket Club might be relevant, and talking to BlackJack might also be a good idea. JH (talk page) 17:23, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
Surrey Club wasn't the same thing as the older Surrey county cricket teams as it was an offshoot of Surrey County Cricket Club. See fuller description on my talk page per label below. ----Jack | 06:32, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

It's a start...

Stage one in getting rid of my First class players lists pages: User:Bobo192/Sandbox - it seems a bit stupid that I have 37,000,000 subpages when I've effectively retired from the site. Not deleting my FCPL pages yet, though. Will separate these out to a single page when I've finished, and get rid of the individual FCPL pages afterwards.

I hope you are well. Bobo. 01:28, 24 April 2013 (UTC)

Left-handed v Right-handed

Hi AA. You may already be aware of this so apologies if it's old news. In addition to the four LH v RH matches in 1790, 1828, 1835 and 1870, there were two other games in which a Left-handed team played MCC. These were in 1833 and 1838. ----Jack | 13:56, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

England teams

Hi AA. It's a difficult one. Teams called England (or All-England) played against first-class teams like MCC and counties in numerous seasons to 1876 so they could be termed Pre-1877 England but the problem there is that they continued after 1876 and I've found 14 matches through to 1895 when a Surrey v England match was the last of the kind. In 1911, the first Test Trial occurred and, in these games, both England and The Rest are non-international England teams. The last trial was in the 1970s, I think. I remember being at Worcester about 1972 when they had one and Boycott scored a century in both innings for one team and Edrich scored a century and 90-odd for the other team! Needless to say, Boycott and Edrich were both picked for the Test team.....

Anyway, we already have these categories:

We need to avoid confusion with England Test players and All-England Eleven players. As dating won't work because of the overlap, I think we should use something like Category:Non-international England cricketers. What do you think? ----Jack | 21:12, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi again, AA. Right, that's under way. I've populated it with all players known to have represented England or All-England teams up to 1772. The earliest players go back to 1743. ----Jack | 12:43, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Australia A in Pakistan in 2005-06

Thanks for pointing out the status of the matches on this tour. I guess the PROD was a little over-zealous. What on earth are Pakistan and Australia doing giving first-class and List A status to "A team" matches though? – PeeJay 22:25, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

I think most A team matches played between full-members these days have some form of status attached to them. Take the Sri Lanka A tour of the West Indies this year. The A teams seem to be playing the leading associates more often of recent, which is good :) Howzat?Out!Out!Out! (talk) 18:00, 2 July 2013 (UTC)
It is good. I'm not sure we should be making articles about tours involving what are essentially national reserve teams. If the matches were full Tests or ODIs, we'd have a definite issue, but I'd say these matches are even less notable than county/state matches. – PeeJay 22:18, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Question

Hey, probably an easy one for you but I'm unsure. Just created James Lillywhite senior for Sussex. He played 1850s for Middlesex when no CCC. Ach so! So. I followed CricketArchive by putting "pre-county club Middlesex". Clumsy phrase, don't like it. Thing is, can't properly link to club article. He didn't play for the club. How would you deal? Thanks. --Bill (talk) 06:19, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
