Strange Hill High is a children's animated series for CBBC.

Premise

Josh Weinstein (The Simpsons, Futurama) writes the series, created using an animation technique combining puppets, Japanese vinyl toys and digital effects. Strange Hill High follows students Mitchell Tanner, Becky Butters and Templeton as they explore their extraordinary school, uncovering absurd and outrageous occurrences as they go.

Series 1 of the show was filmed at Factory Transmedia's studios in Altrincham, Greater Manchester during 2012/13, and is a co-production between CBBC, FremantleMedia and Factory.

Cast

  • Emma Kennedy as Becky Butters- A very keen student who is concerned by her intellectual progress and continues to have infernal logic. She enjoys spending time with her friends, although she panics when in danger.
  • Doc Brown as Mitchell Tanner- A carefree and an above-average student, who isn't keen about school, although he enjoys having fun with his friends.
  • Richard Ayoade as Templeton - a straight-laced and serious type driven by a strange logic who enjoys spending time with his two friends.
  • Jonathan Keeble as Mr Abercrombie (Voice) - the headteacher who adopts a traditional approach to teaching, much to the chagrin of the three friends.

Series 2

The fearless Year 7s uncover increasingly outrageous phenomena, from the league of medieval superheroes to the dormant beast of Embarrassment hiding in a basement lair. In the creepy corridors of Strange Hill High they meet the new games teacher, a human/plant hybrid, and the elusive but rabid Deputy Head, a living were-teacher.

Their bizarre and heroic adventures see them take on the world's biggest exchange student, battle an invasion of space Templetons, and there's a surprise revelation of the identity of Santa Claus!

A third series has been confirmed to air on CBBC in Spring 2015.
