TM as a specific meditational practice is a Hindu, tantric practice and this is a well established fact. For example see the writings Swami Sivananda for details on mental mantra meditation and use of bija mantras. Numerous published pundits discuss this, as well as at least one TM court case where a reputable Hindu swami and guru testified to this very fact as an expert witness.
School practice is also revelvant due to past court rulings and current events.
The school controversy also needs to remain, esp. since it represents a current topic, as well as one in the past which received much media attention--as well as legal action which is also significant in regards to "TM as religious activity"/separation of church and state. The precendent of previous court decisions had determined that TM was religious, again another very relevant, albeit controversial, issue.
