Members of the 16th Lok Sabha were elected during the 2014 Indian general election. The elections were conducted in 9 phases from 7 April 2014 to 12 May 2014 by the Election Commission of India. The results of the election were declared on 16 May 2014.
The 16th Lok Sabha has the lowest number of Muslim parliamentarians since the 1st Lok Sabha. Muslims accounted for 4.3 % of the total MPs after India's first election. The 16th Lok Sabha has 21 Muslim MPs, while the outgoing Lok Sabha had 30 Muslim MPs. The BJP, which won a majority in the election, does not have a single MP from the Muslim community. This is the first Lok Sabha to not have a Muslim elected from Uttar Pradesh.
