Mudgal is located at 16°01′N 76°26′E / 16.02°N 76.43°E / 16.02; 76.43. It has an average elevation of 549 metres (1801 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India censusTemplate:GR, Mudgal had a population of 19,117. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Mudgal has an average literacy rate of 52%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 62%, and female literacy is 41%. In Mudgal, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.
