Dance Central is a music video game series for the Xbox 360 that uses the Kinect motion peripheral. It competes with Ubisoft's Just Dance game series and is all 3 games were developed by Harmonix, creators of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises.

The game was developed by Harmonix, creators of the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises, and is a launch title for Kinect. Dance Central was officially announced at E3 2010 and later released in October 2010.

Dance Central 2

Dance Central 2 is a dance video game developed by Harmonix for the Xbox 360 Kinect. The game is the sequel to Dance Central. Dance Central 2 was officially announced at E3 2011 during Microsoft's press conference. A sequel titled Dance Central 3 was officially announced at E3 2012 and was released later in the year.

Dance Central 3 is a music video game developed and published by Harmonix and co-developed by Backbone Entertainment. It was announced at E3 2012 during Microsoft's press conference. The game was released on October 16, 2012 in North & Latin America, & on October 19, 2012 in Europe, Asia, Australia, & Japan.

Dance Central Spotlight

Dance Central Spotlight was announced as a download for Xbox One at Microsoft's E3 2014 press conference and is due for release on 2nd September 2014. It is unconfirmed whether this is a prequel or spinoff of the main franchise. The game offers 8 different routines per song (4 difficulty levels routine, along with a strength and cardio exercise routine and two alternate routines).


Confirmed returning characters includes Riptide crew, Hi-Def crew, Miss Aubrey and Taye. Venues confirmed includes Airport Venue, School Venue, Zoo Venue, Mansion/Pool Venue and a Subway Venue.
