Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Ikiryō may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 ""s and 1 "<>"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Miscellaneous

Hi Redzimus: Thanks for your work so far on brushing up translated pages. I've had a look at those you mentioned at Misplaced Pages:Main Page/Errors, plus another, and I think I and another editor have got most of the issues fixed. Don't worry too much; there are a lot of us working here, and someone does generally come along and fix something soon. But you might want to use preview, and/or after you complete an edit, hit the history tab on the article and click on the "diff" for your change; either way you'll see things like where you inadvertently replaced the {{Reflist}} with a duplicate of one of the external links. And - I don't see the connection to the Main Page? You got my attention that way, but please don't post tehre unless it's an actual error on the Main Page. See above for other ways to ask for help. Again, welcome and thanks for the improvements! Yngvadottir (talk) 15:41, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Information icon Hello and welcome to Misplaced Pages. When you add content to talk pages and Misplaced Pages pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 18:17, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Suicide methods

Hello. Of the 67,788 bytes present in the Suicide methods page, precisely zero of them originate with me. I find it strange, even suspicious, that you single me out in this manner. Anyway, no further correspondence shall be entered into. Evercat (talk) 20:01, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Suicide methods

Hi again Redzimus: I've had a look at the article, and although it has unreferenced bits that could be removed, as a whole it has ample references to demonstrate notability, and most of them are to academic sources, plus numerous sections refer to more specialized articles, this being the general big-picture article that provides context for them. All of these are big arguments against deletion. It also appears to be neutral, and you should bear in mind that social workers and students intending to go into the helping professions - to treat attempted suicides, to prevent suicide, or to counsel people so that they can be saved from attempting suicide - will be among the users of the page. In general I believe it falls squarely under WP:NOTCENSORED. You should also consider that the more specialized pages would still remain even if this were deleted or redirected, as would related categories. That said, I do think there is a case for removing the unreferenced paragraphs (if you do so, leave a clear edit summary and then open a section on Talk:Suicide methods), and if you still want to nominate it for deletion, you have a perfect right to do so. If you do do so, read the links at NOTCENSORED, and see the list of 9(!) previous deletion discussions on the talk page: click on "show" to the right of "Deletion discussions", which is one of the yellow boxes at the top of the page. You should read through all of those and if you still want to nominate it for deletion, make the strongest possible policy-based argument for deletion. I believe your account will need to be confirmed for you to create the deletion discussion page - if I'm right on that, you have another 1.5 days to go before that happens automatically. Alternatively to a deletion discussion, consider talking about the issue in either the same or a different section on the talk page. The page has 258 watchers (!), so quite a few editors will see your post there - all of those people who are active and check their watch lists. It might be that the page is due for a rewrite that would at least partially deal with your concern. Yngvadottir (talk) 20:13, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Edit to above - I missed something, it's semi-protected. So you need to be confirmed to edit the article. That will happen soon, as I said; and you can edit the talk page. Yngvadottir (talk) 20:17, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm Amortias. I noticed that you made a comment on the page User talk:NeilN that didn't seem very civil, so it has been removed. Misplaced Pages needs people like you and me to collaborate, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please remember to be civil in your comments to other users. If you dont agree with someone else opinion on a matter you are free to discuss this with them. Amortias (T)(C) 21:41, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

New Sections

When you add new sections to talk pages they go at the bottom. All of our talk pages are set up that way. Experienced editors will be looking for new material there, so when you add it to the top of a page it has a good possibility of being missed. GB fan 22:14, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

And giving barnstars every time you post on a user talk page is a bit odd. Editors appreciate getting barnstars but they're usually accompanied by a comment about what the barnstar is for. If you want to start a regular conversation giving a barnstar is just a bit of a distraction. --NeilN 23:50, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

DeirYassin

Hi, you mean User:DeirYassin? Well no I'm not him, that user seems to have been inactive since 2006, and I can't say that I remember having had any interaction with him back then either (though I suppose it's possible since I assume you followed some trace or other to end up on my talk page). --Sherool (talk) 00:47, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

Greetings, Redzimus, and Welcome to Misplaced Pages

I couldn't help but notice the message that you left on my User Talk Page here on Misplaced Pages, as it reads like a cry for help. To that point, after a cursory review of the Misplaced Pages article on Suicide Methods, my initial impression is that the legal issues to which you allude have already been thoroughly vetted by a large number of Wikipedians on more than one occasion. And while it is plain to see that your heart is in the right place, I (personally) do not believe that censorship can be justified as a means of protecting people who want to harm themselves, so you probably wouldn't want me to contribute my perspective to the discussion you are raising. As such, in deference to the spirit of your cry for help, I will not join the discussion. Rather, I will respectfully suggest to you here on your Talk Page that the time and trouble that you are currently devoting to censorship of Misplaced Pages might be much better spent on some other form of advocacy for people who are in crisis. I wish you only the best. Internet Esquire (talk) 00:53, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

Canvassing

Information iconIt appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on a biased choice of users' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Misplaced Pages's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. Thank you. Your post at Talk:Jimmy Wales

I have removed it as that talk page is to discuss the Jimmy Wales article, not to communicate with Jimbo. For what it's worth, you are raising a content matter. Jimbo or admins (key or otherwise) have no special say over content in articles. Their opinions will usually be considered carefully but do not have the power to command changes. --NeilN 13:35, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

You're not annoying me. We were all new here once and most of us needed advice on how things worked at one point or another. All I can hope for is that you're here to improve Misplaced Pages in some way, and not just to get one article deleted. --NeilN 14:00, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
