Casey is the founder and chairman of Casey Research, a provider of paid subscription newsletter services espousing libertarian viewpoints as the justification for the purchase of highly speculative microcap stocks, precious metals, and other investments. Casey publishes the monthly investment newsletter The International Speculator and also "The Casey Report."
Casey graduated from Georgetown University in 1968.
Casey contributes his opinions to various websites such as WorldNetDailyLewRockwell.com the libertarian print publication Liberty.
Casey supported Ron Paul's run for president in 2008. In 2009 he gave a speech titled My Misadventures in the Third World in which he outlined plans to privatize a small country and take it public on the New York Stock Exchange.
He states the bankruptcy of America is inevitable and implied by the true liabilities of the general government which he estimates is upwards of $100 trillion when all Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation bank deposits and other off-budget items are included.
In 2012 he published Totally Incorrect: Conversations with Doug Casey.
Casey has described Roman Catholicism, to which he formerly adhered, as "a cannibalistic death-cult," and Objectivism and Marxism as secular religions.
