ANI
There is currently a discussion at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The discussion is about the topic HERE. Thank you. SW3 5DL (talk) 16:08, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
archiving
An admin has closed the RM discussion and moved the page. Now that's done, can you archive the closed discussions? It might help send away the drama. That will leave us with active discussions and the RfC, which hopefully will resolve soon. What do you think? Would that be all right to do? Thanks. SW3 5DL (talk) 23:49, 21 October 2014 (UTC)
First Amendment
I don't know the basis for your mistaken notion that ads do not fall within the ambit of the First Amendment (and this is why I hate non-experts editing in certain ways in certain expert areas, without RS support) ... but to any attorney familiar with the First Amendment, that is clearly wrong, and the opposite was shown to be true in the case used as a ref in the article you edited. Best. --Epeefleche (talk) 04:29, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
- I'm afraid that is too trivial an issue to be discussed; this can be resolved. (First Amendment is the freedom of speech, press, religion, peaceable assembly, and to petition the government. Ads are not mentioned. Anyway, my edit summary was a mistake. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petitition the Government for a redress of grievances.")
Let's look at bigger issues — if we're going to add stuff in the First Amendment, we can add the Ninth Amendment for the buskers that are illegally arrested in MTA property, etc. – Epicgenius (talk) 14:59, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
- If your mistaken impression is "too trivial to be discussed," then it is too trivial for you to make an edit based on your mistake. You are simply wrong. As is clear in the NYT article that I linked to, discussing the holding by the federal district court. It stated: "Judge Paul A. Engelmayer of Federal District Court in Manhattan ruled that the authority had violated the First Amendment rights of the group that sought to place the ad". Who am I to believe -- you, or the federal judge, as to whether the judge held that the First Amendment rights vis-a-vis the ad had been found to have been violated (as reported in the Times). As to what we can cover - if a federal court issues an opinion, and the top-level RSs such as the NY Times cover it ... sure, it seems like an appropriate matter for wp to cover. Epeefleche (talk) 19:20, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
- I meant that I was agreeing with the addition, but that other relevant things can also be added. It's not a matter of not knowing or not caring about what the judge said. – Epicgenius (talk) 19:23, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
- Ok -- well I agree with both those points (if the other relevant material is similarly relevant ... as in notable court decision, reported by high-level RS). Epeefleche (talk) 19:46, 22 October 2014 (UTC)
- Good. I will find sources if possible. – Epicgenius (talk) 20:22, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

Some baklava for you!
What could I have done? I was radically ranged with the texts I read. Though all were very well written, I wasn't yet convinced. It's not funny any more. "white is white and black is black" and when you mix em both, you'll never get the same. I shan't speak profusely like I know it all but if only I could I'd stand alone for a just course. You see. Masturbation is sin. yes it is. Agafelam (talk) 14:14, 23 October 2014 (UTC) |

Thomas Duncan
I left a note on the U.S. page about possibly moving off some of the content over to Duncan's article. Do you have any suggestions in that regard? If so, please comment. My concern is that as Dr. Spencer is the 2nd case from Africa diagnosed in the U.S. his section will grow equally large. Would appreciate your take on it. Thanks.
