Serenity (born October 29, 1969) is a former erotic dancer and former pornographic actress. She is sometimes credited as Serenity Wilde.
Adult film career
Born in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Serenity was an army brat who traveled constantly with her family. They moved throughout the South and East before eventually settling in New England, where Serenity came of age. She trained in ballet since childhood and became a principal ballerina. The skills learned in that field helped her become an exceptional exotic dancer, an occupation that paid her more than ballet did . Serenity's highest achievement as a stripper was her victory in the six-day competition for 1994 Topless Dancer-World Championship over 180 international competitors at the Stardust Resort and Casino in Las Vegas Strip. The first American to ever win the tournament, she recorded the largest point difference ever between the champion and the runner-up, winning over celebrity judges including Diana Ross, Max Baer, and Fabio. Serenity has performed at four major Las Vegas hotels and at four AVN shows.
Porn starlet Alexis DeVell discovered Serenity backstage at a strip club and brought her to L.A. to start doing nude photo shoots. Serenity's debut scene was 1993's Jennifer Ate for Wicked Pictures . The scene was an all-girl orgy with six other females . Serenity's first boy-girl scene was in the movie "Temptation of Serenity," released in 1994. Her next boy-girl scene came over a year later in 1996's "Time Machine."
Serenity always remained more committed to her dancing career than her pornstar career until she signed with Wicked entertainment in 1996 and became one of the longest tenured contract stars in the company's history. In her five years there, Serenity became the first and only person to date to win back-to-back AVN Awards for Best Actress, winning in 2000 for Wicked Picture's Double Feature and 2001 for M: Caught in the Act. Wicked Pictures President Steve Orenstein once said, "Serenity is one of the most reliable, dependable, hardworking, talented women in the business. We can count on Serenity to promote and go the extra mile for the company."
Serenity has mainstream credits including hosting one segment on the E! Channel's Wild On series. She appeared in more than 20 specials for E!, garnering some of the highest ratings for the network at that time. Serenity adds, “It was one of the most exciting aspects of my adult career. Traveling the world, meeting new people, and getting paid for it — and by a Disney corporation of all things!”
Serenity started Las Vegas Novelties, a company that made various sex toys. After a successful six years, Serenity sold Las Vegas Novelties to Pipedream Products.
Serenity never performed a condom-less boy-girl scene. She became a vegetarian in 1999, and she is a staunch animal-rights activist. In 2003, she was nominated for "Sexiest Vegetarian" by PETA.
In September 2004, after 14 months of on-screen inactivity, Serenity announced her retirement from performing in adult movies. At the time of her retirement, she was in the third trimester of her first pregnancy. The father of that child is Serenity's husband Steve Lane.
By 2011, Serenity had closed her personal website (Serenity.net) and thereby completely separated herself from the adult-film industry.
